It is so easy to lose True North when the storms of life blow. Sometimes you need a better compass, map, keel, or captain to guide the battered vessel toward a safe harbour, or even guide you toward a new continent. On this grand voyage called life, winds of depression, anxiety, trauma, aimlessness, or uncertainty can threaten your capacity to cope. Knowing there is a deep current ever guiding you helps restore your resilience. This deep inner work will better equip you to read patterns and ride out the storms.

If you are a parent who is concerned about your child's attachment, losses and complex developmental trauma, or if you are becoming hopeless, feeling frightened of your child or for you child, please connect with me.
After many years of supporting foster, adoptive, birth and chosen families in enhancing attachment and resolving trauma, the complex needs of my client families have taken me on a journey to better understand and treat aggression toward family /caregivers in childhood and adolescence (AFCCA). Many parents feel helpless and hopeless when their child causes harm within the family and resists parental care and limits. Their child's developmental trauma, attachment losses, grief, or neurodiversity may be well understood, however parents may struggle when their child continues to harm themself and others in the family.

We heal via safe re-connection with other humans - your story deserves to be listened to.

My passion is helping individuals, parents and families learn how to cope and manage more effectively, in order to achieve meaningful change today and hope for the future.

I use a trauma-informed approach to create space for you to explore what's happening to you because your important person died.
Has someone really important in your life died? Someone that you never imagined having to live without? I know that the death of a significant person in your life can be devastating. Even worse, they might have been the person who would comfort you in your toughest moments and now they're gone. Grief in this magnitude can be destabilizing and leave you to wonder if you're going to be able to survive the relentlessness of it all. If you've tried avoiding the pain or "acting normal" but it hasn't worked, I can give you the space and guidance to come apart and then help you put yourself back together in a different and meaningful way.

I work from a trauma-informed lens with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, loneliness and disconnection, and couples facing breakdowns in communication and conflict. In individual therapy, we explore the deep and often painful emotions that get in the way of feeling accepted, understood and truly engaged in one’s life and relationships, including exploring low self-esteem, self-criticism, and perfectionism, and the impact of lived experiences of trauma on their well-being. In couples therapy we uncover the negative cycle disrupting the relationship, helping to improve the connection and communication between partners.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
