As a psychotherapist, parenting expert and speaker, I hold a dynamic and integrated view rooted in existential psychology, developmental concepts, attachment theory and current neurological research.
I believe that each one of us is the sum of all the journeys we have taken and all the people we have met along the way. We navigate peaks and valleys, traveling up or downstream. At different junctures in our lives, we find ourselves in an ‘in-between’ not knowing which path to take. It is through my own journey and the ones I have taken with others that I have come to bear witness to the strength, courage, and wisdom we each have within us. In my work with individuals, couples, children and youth, I explore challenges, crisis, loss and struggle within the context of one’s interpersonal relationships.

Life can have situations that may be difficult to cope and hard to find a way out. You have a choice to ask for help or try working on it on your own. It helps to know you have an opportunity to have a neutral party who is not in your circle and who can listen to your thoughts and feelings. A person who can help guide you through these difficult times at a pace that doesn't seem so overwhelming. Go ahead and give me a call, it may be a conversation that you feel needs to happen. I am a certified EMDR therapist and I provide assistance to Indigenous Peoples through NHIB. I provide EFCT and EFFT. EFT for couples and families.

I have a certificate in trauma-informed CBT, CA-CBT, Levels 1 & 2 in EMDR, Training in EFT, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP II), Prepare-Enrich, and have utilized other modalities such as Bowenian Family Systems Therapy, Existential Therapy, and DBT in an integrative way.
Establishing an environment where clients feel safe to share their story is of paramount importance. My approach to therapy is from a trauma-informed lens, a person-centered approach, and by utilizing evidence based modalities. I have experience journeying with clients from diverse backgrounds and with those who have experienced trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and with patients and their families in an in-patient setting. I am an integrationist, because I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all approach.

We all come from vastly unique life experiences and identities, and there is no “one size fits all” way to heal and grow. I take an eclectic approach to therapy that is guided by my clients' individual needs. My practice is influenced by relational, narrative, experiential, and existential modalities, which I have a keen interest in integrating with creative and somatic techniques. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that values warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. I work through the lens of an intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed framework that centers you as the expert of your own experiences.

Everyone is unique and presents their own challenges. Through education, experience, authenticity, and a touch of humour, I employ a number of different modalities to counsel individuals and families. Though I lean on an integrated narrative- existential approach through a person centred focus, I also use solutions-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy. I can provide short term therapy, but I am also in for the long haul with you.

In my practice, I use various modalities, including CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, Art Therapy, Meaning Therapy, and Existential therapy tailored to each client’s needs and capacity.
I am an artist with a mission to help people grow through their pain, guiding them to find meaning and purpose in their sufferings. I believe psychotherapy is an art in itself. Our lives are filled with light and shadow; to make life beautiful, we need creativity, bravery, knowledge, trust, and a safe space to explore and regulate our emotions. With my life experiences as a woman, immigrant, Middle Easterner, artist, mother, wife, and three-time cancer survivor, I can understand you without judgment. In many cases, I know exactly how you feel. If I don’t, we can talk, and I will learn from you.

I have studied Philosophy and Psychology and I extensively use philosophical and existential ideas and insights in my counselling.
I believe that we are all in a continuous process of identifying our internal resources, embracing our own creativity and mobilizing our psychic energy. My aim for therapy is to help my clients arrive at a personal, yet structured and novel, understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. I invite my clients to enrich their personal narratives and use their own unique abilities and skills. Each session is a collaborative attempt to elaborate on the client’s mental map. Each conversation is a mutual dialogue on how you could experience yourself differently.

I have received training in Existential and Somatic Therapy, Bioenergetics, Archetypal Psychology, and Applied Shamanism.
I help individuals who are seeking to address the root of their suffering by breaking the cycles of trauma and emotional repression. I offer an embodied approach to shadow work and supporting the awakening process. This often begins by learning how to get out of our heads and into our bodies. Insights naturally arise when we begin to get beneath our limiting beliefs and assumptions and come into contact with the energetics of our direct experience. Some common areas of exploration include healing relationships, trauma, emotional reactivity, deconstructing the ego, and awakening to your true nature.

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
