Do you feel stuck? Disconnected from your needs, desires, or identity? Are you ready to create movement in your life? I'm glad you're here! Whether you’re focused on school, career, relationships, or self-discovery, this disconnect from your sense of self can make life feel quite overwhelming. Decision-making might feel so impossible that you even defer to external expectations as a guide forward. This can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, burnout, and living a life that doesn’t feel like it’s truly yours. I understand how you feel, and I’m here for you.

Our therapists often hear from clients who say, "I'm aware of what I need to do, but I struggle to take action." This sentiment may resonate with you. It's normal to feel unsure and anxious during times of crisis, family conflict, relationship issues, or any significant life changes. However, if these emotions hinder your progress, ignoring them won't make them go away. It's crucial to acknowledge your fears, pinpoint their origins, and take proactive steps to overcome them for your well-being.

Life has a way of presenting challenges and difficulties that can stop even the strongest in their paths. Increased stress, sudden changes, anxiety, unresolved trauma...each can trigger unpleasant and negative emotions that hold us back at the least and damage our health and relationships at their worst. If your emotional or mental well-being, your relationships with others or with yourself, or your ability to problem solve is out of balance – whatever the issue or stumbling block, a safe therapeutic relationship can help you return to, or develop a greater sense of ease and well-being.

For seven years, I worked in a top security government agency: this experience provided me with first-hand knowledge of the stressors linked to high-profile job environments and their often overwhelming demands.
Sometimes life can be really hard. Every person, no matter how big or small their issues appear to be, needs to be heard and understood. I am here to guide you through life’s toughest moments, to embark on your journey together, and to support you every step of the way by listening, understanding, and appreciating your courage. Together, we can overcome emotional hurdles, achieve personal goals higher than ever imagined, and work towards a greater, deeper understanding of you. I am a wife, a mother, a sister, and a stepmother who acknowledges the beauty but also the challenges of creating a blended family.

People-pleaser, perfectionist, caretaker, rescuer, fixer… We all have defenses that help us move through life. There comes a time, however, when one or more of our defenses doesn’t work for us any longer. This is when therapy can help. Perhaps you are going through or considering a major life transition (relationship, career, lifestyle) but old defenses, beliefs and patterns are getting in the way. You want to trust your choices, but don’t know if you can. All you know is that it’s not possible to go forward the same way. Something needs to change.

My job here is to help you take back control of your life and help you direct it in the manner you want to.
You deserve to live a life that makes you feel empowered! However, often in life, there are times we get stuck and don’t know how to move forwards, how to cope with situations and in what direction to take one’s story. Not knowing what to do and how to do it can often make a person feel powerless, which can further lead to anxiety, depression, resentment, and isolation, hindering you from living a full life. I offer you a chance to take back control of the story of your life and write the narrative you want to write.

My clients face a wide range of issues including: Depression, anxiety, chronic pain, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), life transitions, career transitions, relationship challenges and parenting issues. Career Guidance Counsellors

How do I know if I need career counselling?

Determining whether a career counsellor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counselling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counsellor.

Who can benefit from career counselling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counselling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counselling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counsellor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counselling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counselling typically last?

The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counselling?

Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counsellor, particularly if the career counsellor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counselling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
