I use a mix of approaches in sessions including Internal Family Systems Therapy, relational approaches, emotion focused, and existential therapy with systemic impacts in mind.
June 2024: waitlist started. I'm happy you’ve found my page. I understand that reaching out to a therapist can be daunting, especially if you have had difficulties with other services in the past. I have a particular passion for working with members of the LGBQ, Trans, and Nonbinary communities to challenge internalized transphobia and homophobias. I am also skilled at working with people who experience anxiety, depression, BPD, and other challenges with mental health, and I love to work with youth and kids.

Hi, I’m glad you’re here. There are times in our lives that we can all benefit from being with another human in safe, nurturing, connected space. I am passionate about cultivating such spaces where you can share your story, be heard, held, and seen with compassion. It is my hope you can become empowered to lean into the voice of your own body, mind, and intuition. My personal and professional experiences have influenced training in family systems, mood & personality disorders, adoption, grief & loss, trauma, life transitions, perfectionism, and existential/spiritual/religious concerns.

My interests: Workplace traumas, bullying, constructive dismissal, psychologically unsafe workplaces, unanticipated job loss/end. The Mother Wound. Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs). Wounded healers. Existential despair, i.e. feeling lost/adrift in life, lack of meaning & purpose. Not realizing one’s potential. Issues stemming from childhood trauma. Difficult life transitions, life endings, e.g. retirement, relationship endings. Support for withdrawal from psychiatric drugs. Dissociation, depersonalization, dis-integration in response to trauma. Many come to me when they’ve exhausted options provided by mainstream mental healthcare.

My foundation is based on humanistic- existential theory, which acknowledges the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational aspects of being human.
Life is stressful and can be hard to endure. Everyone can benefit from having someone to talk to who is non-judgmental, validating, and empathetic. And, if more is required, having someone who is skilled with evidence-based strategies and tools. My priorities during our first few visits will be: listening to your story to understand who you are, how you see and experience the world; beginning to collaborate through inquiry, exploration, and observation to view your challenges from various angles; and co-creating a pathway for growth and change that is most suitable for you. It is important you feel safe, heard, seen, and valued.

Has work stress been keeping you up at night? Do you feel stuck, frustrated, and drained? What about your relationships? Are you feeling sad, anxious, or unsure? Have you gone through a recent life transition, such as leaving for post-secondary, a job change, or retirement? Perhaps you’ve endured the loss of a loved one or a special pet. Maybe you have a health issue, or are a senior, trying to navigate the loss of some functionality. Or are you someone who has struggled with sharing something from your past and feel that it may be time to discuss it?

Life can be hard. We're here to help. Struggling? Stuck? Overwhelmed? Looking for help moving forward? We can support you in moving toward your goals. We have experience in providing both brief and longer-term treatment that is evidence-based (i.e., shown to work). We're less interested in labels or in figuring out what’s “broken”, and instead focus on helping you to feel centred and "on track". We try to help you within your timeframe. We see the psychologist and client both as “real people”, having “real” conversations, about “real life”, to make real changes and real movement toward goals that are really important to you.

When you are struggling with your mental health, the anguish can feel unbearable. Perhaps you’ve been lost in depression or have been living with persistent anxiety. Your body might ache, or hold chronic pain. You might have lost a loved one through a death or through relational breakdown, and you are struggling to cope with the grief of such a dramatic change to your life. Maybe a loved one is facing terminal illness and you have deep sorrow or questions about what happens next. You might be a trauma survivor looking to rebuild your life. If any of these issues apply to you, I can help you.

Are you seeking a supportive outlet to address childhood issues, navigate traumatic events, manage anger spells, and alleviate feelings of depression or anxiety? If so, I invite you to explore healthier alternatives than the temporary relief found in alcohol, shopping sprees, or excessive consumption of adult content. If you've found yourself preoccupied with non-medical drug use or starting your day with a sweet treat to trigger a rush of dopamine, it may be time to examine these patterns. Discover how to regain control over your thoughts and emotions, and explore the connection between your behaviours and past experiences.

I am seasoned and passionate therapist and I believe the clients have to look for the "best fit" therapist and they will be the judge of the work I do. My approach is completely through emotional intelligence, mindfulness, with care, respect, and evidence based approach, knowing that client is not broken or need to be "fixed" yet might need someone non-judgmental with compassionate heart and mind to be fully present in their space or journey.

Mainly treat “self-regulation” problems: Social anxiety, shame/guilt, anger, depression; Overdependencies; Intimacy-sexuality, Communication; Identity-Personality issues;Selfcare.

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
