In my practice, I use an eclectic approach combined with elements of CBT, Trauma-Informed and Solution Focus Therapy.
Lately, are you having trouble focusing, making decisions or trusting in others? Are you feeling exhausted creating excuses that others don't notice how worried, anxious, depress or irritable you feel inside? Let me help you. I value your interest to seek counselling; it talks volumes about your determination to work in your wellbeing. Together we can find the balance that allows you to enjoy connecting with others, recover more quickly from frustrations, and see the future with openness and optimism.

As an eclectic therapist, I use a variety of modalities based on your unique needs and goals, including EMDR therapy.
Imagine you have a cup that is full to the brim. You walk through life making sure the cup never spills, and you are so focused on keeping the cup steady that you don’t notice things going on around you. You don't react in big ways because it will tip the cup over. Suddenly, one final drop makes the whole cup overflow. You wonder - "What's wrong with me? I have been managing to hold on to this cup all this time and now everything is everywhere and outside of my control." Now, if the cup was actually half empty, one extra drop wouldn't make a big difference. Are you ready to start emptying your cup?

I take an eclectic approach to psychotherapy with my clients, as I want to meet you where you need support.
Feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety? Struggling to cope with life’s challenges on your own? Seeking a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions? We can work together to support your experience with tools for stress, burnout, and balance. Perhaps your ways of operating in the world served you well at one time, but no longer serve you now? Tired of operating on autopilot? Or, perhaps you have experienced trauma? In our work together we can explore the ways in which past experiences influence present behaviours, aiming to enhance self-understanding through careful exploration and reflection.

I work from a client-centered, eclectic framework with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for ages 12 - 40, while incorporating mindfulness based techniques.
Making the decision to begin therapy can be a life altering decision. Tessa believes that finding the right fit is the most integral part of the process. Tessa wants to ensure you have customized and individualized treatment plans that suit you best. She spends time in the first few sessions assessing needs and creating this plan with you in a collaborative way. Tessa would consider herself a natural, straightforward, open and easy going therapist who finds a way to connect this with evidence-based practices for the best results.

To better support you, I draw on eclectic therapeutic approaches including EMDR, ACT, DBT-informed, Narrative Therapy, among others.
Our brain and body can protect us from danger, but when the pain becomes too much for us to handle, we can often feel stuck and unable to move forward. When we are struggling more than we can cope, it is easy to feel isolated, powerless, and hopeless. You don’t have to do it alone. I will hold and provide a safe space for you, and together, we will honour all parts of you and determine your unique path to healing. While healing looks different for everybody, it is my goal to assist you in embracing your true self.

Life is truly filled with so many layers (just like an onion!) which can make it hard to know where to start when it comes to counselling. Hi, I'm Julie (she/her) and I deeply believe in the beauty of connection. My own journey with mental health and being neurodivergent has truly inspired my passion for this field. I work with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, chronic pain, ADHD/ASD, self-esteem, and couples counselling. I am also deeply passionate about working with 2slgbtqia+ individuals and the queer community.

Eclectic Counsellors
Many practitioners take an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing upon various aspects of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic methods to create their own custom-made approach. Such therapists often work with their clients to create a treatment plan that encompasses different techniques to best address the client's particular problems and to appeal to their sensibility.
