I use Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness based CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Experiencing and nutritional planning.
I am currently only accepting Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy clients at this time. Are you ready to make a change and live your genuine life? Or, are you ready to begin building a life worth living? Ready to move past what's holding you stuck? As a therapist, I believe that every person can create and harness their own fuel for mental wellbeing by working on inner strength. I hold the perspective that mental wellbeing doesn't come from our circumstances, but from within the body. I use a holistic approach, looking at every way to improve life- such as skill building, spiritual, emotional and trauma work.

My approach will be individualized to your concerns and unique characteristics, while pulling from the concepts found in Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based CBT, DBT, and Attachment Theory.
I work in both in-person and virtually with adults and adolescents 16+ who feel as though something is preventing them from living their best and most authentic life. This may be overwhelming emotions, substance use, feelings of anxiety and panic, unhealed trauma, or a pervasive feeling that something is just “not right”. If this is you- my hope is to help you to feel as though you do not have to face these challenges alone. Therapy can help you to understand yourself and your life patterns, improve your relationships, develop coping skills and new ways of managing difficulties, and to feel more grounded and in control of your life.

My preferred approach is DBT therapy; an evidence-based approach to building a life worth living.
Have you noticed or been told that you overreact in, or withdraw from, emotional situations? Do you struggle with anxiety, depression and/or negative self-talk? Is it hard for you to trust others, to set healthy boundaries, or to be kind to yourself? Have you had childhood experiences that you can’t overcome? Do you have conflictual or unstable relationships? If so, you are probably having trouble managing/ regulating your emotions. Unmanaged emotions can lead to behaviours or actions that damage relationships, foster insecurity and reduce motivation and self-esteem, to name a few.

When your parenting, relationships and happiness are all suffering, you need change and you need help. It is so frustrating when you wonder, "what is wrong with me?!" or- you know what's wrong, but have no idea how to change. Maybe the ways you have tried before have failed you, or only lasted a little while. Take a breath- you're in the right spot and we are going to help you transform.

I use activating-experiential means (role play, practice experiment, art ), applying brain research, attachment/developmental psychology, analytic-interpretive processing (psychodynamic); C/DBT; trauma treatment; ‘internal self-state’; play therapy.
My background holds 40yr of extensive practice experience and continued learning. Expertise:all relationship concerns; recovery/healing from emotional hurts, losses, trauma. Such events, if in early years, can instill persistent insecurity, fears, loneliness and grief, causing troubled close relationships and inner-life: Restricting our core resilient nature where we keep strong potentials to be more open, creative, confident, realistic/effective persons. Mainly treat “self-regulation” problems: Social anxiety, shame/guilt, anger, depression; Overdependencies; Intimacy-sexuality, Communication; Identity-Personality issues;Selfcare.

I use an eclectic mix of trauma-informed CBT and DBT as well as other modalities.
Being a teen is truly an effort- for everyone involved! If you're a teen or parent of one, I am here to help. In the teens years, you go through so many tumultuous changes. Issues with body image and eating can rob you of your happiness and joy. Parents struggle and feel helpless as they watch mood changes, relationship issues and anxiety reach new levels of intensity. As a teen, you might feel so misunderstood by friends, parents and teachers. You might be struggling with persistent feelings of unhappiness, anxiety or depression. It can be hard to manage all of these pressures and changes. You can take a big breath- I am here now!

Taking part in Psychotherapy with Kyle involves being offered a space that you can feel comfortable sharing your concerns and being met with honesty in return. I take pride in being able to help clients assess where improvements are needed and strengths are present. While using various therapeutic modalities, I most commonly support clients through the use of CBT, DBT, solution focused strategies and a person centred approach. As a young male I have had a lot of success helping males with male related issues: relationships, self-esteem, anger, anxiety, life improvement, or simply having someone to discuss stressful issues with.

Not accepting new clients
I am experienced in using techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Behavioural Activation (BA), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Not accepting new clients at this time- new referrals September 2024. Throughout the course of my career, I have grown and strengthened my appreciation for a holistic treatment approach, understanding that the obstacles to health are often multi-faceted. My goal in therapy is to help individuals get back to living their most valued lives, whatever that may look like. As a therapist, my aim is to support clients who are experiencing any combination of stress, anxiety, depression, life adjustment challenges and/or relationship issues.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
