I have extensive experience in post-secondary education, acute health care and private practice; and offer comprehensive and specialized services including neurodiverse adult ADHD/ADD, Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments and treatments, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, trauma, ED and depression.
I work with professionals, medical residents, graduate, post-graduate and doctoral students by helping them to feel more empowered and less stressed in their high-performance environments. By providing guidance to those facing challenges, I support the process of change during life transitions. Together we explore areas that may be causing symptoms, patterns of behaviour and learn how to accept your own feelings while creating a deeper sense of self. I coach and provide training on how to acquire or improve skills and strategies needed to regulate negative emotions, increase distress tolerance; and minimize and manage triggers.

I chose to become a School Psychologist because I have a passion for helping individuals identify their strengths and improve their learning abilities. My main goal is to assist parents in understanding the underlying causes of their child's learning difficulties and provide them with guidance on how to address these challenges. Additionally, I strive to support adults in gaining a better understanding of themselves. My area of focus involves working with individuals who may have suspected or confirmed learning difficulties, ADHD, and/or Autism.

You were going along with your daily routines, but now things are starting to feel more difficult. You’re starting to feel overwhelmed and life is just not going as you had expected. You might start to put on a brave face, but inside you are just not feeling like the version of yourself you once were. You notice your patience is thinner with the people that you usually enjoy having around you, you’ve even snapped and said something you didn’t mean before you could stop yourself. You try to fix it but then it happens again. You talk down to yourself and just cannot boost yourself out of this funk. Now you’re taking a brave step.

We all go through rough spots in life where we can benefit from time to reflect. These times can also be an opportunity to understand ourselves better, and make sense of harmful patterns. Throughout life, we develop thought and behaviour patterns in our response to stress, in our relationships, and in our daily habits. With effective tools and strategies, we can make sense of them, and let them go. This opens us up to a more authentic and healthy life.

Many of my clients would describe themselves as sensitive people in a world that was not built for them. You may be looking for a therapist who appreciates that your anxiety might show up in therapy. You may be looking for someone who spends the time building a connection with each client on their own terms. You may need someone willing to step into your world and to think outside the box. If you relate to any of this, we might be a good fit. Many of my clients have trialed other therapists and are looking for someone with lived experience of neurodivergence. I have a casual, conversational and authentic style.

Now Accepting New Clients! You're tired of walking on eggshells. Your inner critic is relentless, overanalyzing your every move. Your body feels tense, especially your shoulders. You chronically apologize, feeling like a burden to everyone around you. You've tried all the things - medication, mental health walks, journaling, positive thinking, breathwork...maybe you've even tried therapy before, but you still feel stuck. You want to understand WHY you are the way you are so you can break the patterns that keep you stuck. You know your childhood wasn't perfect. You're now seeing how it impacted you and are finally ready to change it.

Are you or a loved one autistic? How about ADHD, anxious or depressed? Is being neurodivergent impacting your goals or your relationships with your loved ones? If so you're definitely not alone. Being neurodivergent often means that we process things differently, leading to different strengths.

Does any of this sound familiar? You survived emotional neglect. You work hard and are independent. Sometimes, your drive has harmed relationships and partnerships. Perhaps your family members struggle with alcohol or addictions. You often feel isolated and "not enough", and could use help from a person who understands these challenges. If you are Neurodivergent, in Recovery; or considering gender transition, I have specific education + experience to support you (Rainbow Health Ontario provider). I am Autistic (AuDHD), adopted, ACE, trans and in a loving marriage. I work, volunteer and learn in Harm Reduction communities.

Attention parents. Is your child in elementary, high school, or post-secondary education and struggling with anxiety or depression? Is your child feeling socially anxious or experiencing difficulty separating from their digital devices? Recovering from the isolation and social restrictions has been difficult for so many students leaving kids uninterested in previous activities or peer groups. We have seen a substantial increase in the use of marijuana and alcohol in our youth as a result of unrecognized or undiagnosed mental health challenges. Many parents report they are at a loss to help their child flourish again and recover.

June 2024: waitlist started. I'm happy you’ve found my page. I understand that reaching out to a therapist can be daunting, especially if you have had difficulties with other services in the past. I have a particular passion for working with members of the LGBQ, Trans, and Nonbinary communities to challenge internalized transphobia and homophobias. I am also skilled at working with people who experience anxiety, depression, BPD, and other challenges with mental health, and I love to work with youth and kids.

Hi, I am invested in working with clients as they embark on a path of self-discovery that inspires meaningful growth. Although there are many reasons to seek therapy, understanding the complexity and interconnectedness of one's thoughts, emotions, and actions, as well as one’s past and present experiences, can bring clarity and healing in the moment, and direction for the future. This insight can be invaluable in times of crisis or transition and can be used to foster positive changes and create new patterns. I look forward to going with you on this journey of exploring your story, strengths, and potential.

What is the most effective treatment for autism?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?

Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?

Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
