I am a Registered Psychotherapist, trained EMDR therapist, and a Registered Kinesiologist.
Trauma, much like a splinter, embeds itself into a person and affects all aspects of life. My primary objective is to create a safe and compassionate therapeutic alliance which facilitates healing and growth. With Trauma, I truly believe that the body holds a great deal of the emotional weight, without us knowing. I witnessed severe difficulties in my community, and as an adult I have grieved many friends who kept their suffering a secret, often until it was too late. I truly believe that every individual innately harbors the right set of tools to achieve their personal goals and find their way to a meaningful, fulfilling life.

I use EMDR, DBT, supportive counselling techniques and advocacy, along with mindfulness techniques and solution-focused brief therapy, all while focusing on family and individual strengths.
Welcome! If you've found my profile, you may be experiencing challenges in your life. You might be feeling overwhelmed due to stress, anger, worry, or feeling ‘not good enough’. Maybe you feel flooded by your emotions, or as though ‘something’ has been building inside you for a long time and it’s getting harder to go about your day. Maybe you’re doing things that feel harmful or unhealthy, feeling out of control, or just thinking ‘this’ isn’t how you want life to be. If anything here sounds familiar, I would love to support you in identifying your goals and building a life that is fulfilling, balanced and worth living.

EMDR Intensive Therapy: Hold space for your healing by committing to an intensive course of treatment rather than spreading therapy out over months and years.
In her book The Gifts of Imperfection, Bréné Brown says that “owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do”. It is my privilege as a Psychotherapist to provide space and support as individuals dive into the stories of their lives and do the hard work of healing. Certified in EMDR, and other types of evidence-based trauma therapies, I’m grateful to be able to provide an opportunity for individuals to release the emotional, mental, and physical blocks caused by trauma and other difficult life circumstances.

Drawing on my extensive training as an EMDR certified therapist and in ERP, ACT, CBT, and parts work, we'll work together to help you get out of the negative patterns that keep you stuck, rediscover what makes life worth living (on your own terms), and heal from the pain of the past.
Being human is such a messy, complicated, and confusing thing, and we’re not really given any formal guidance on how to deal with emotional and psychological suffering. Pop psychology tells us that we should aspire to be happy all of the time and that if we’re not feeling good, it’s because we’re not trying hard enough, or that we're lacking willpower, or we aren't thinking the right thoughts. As a therapist who specializes in anxiety, phobias, OCD, trauma-related issues, self-acceptance, and chronic stress, I know that things are rarely that simple. I also know that good therapy can help.

My aim is to help clients achieve their goals, using evidence-based therapy practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and EMDR.
People come to therapy with the hope of enhancing their life story in a meaningful way, yet many find themselves held back due to painful emotions, relationship problems, and trauma. Psychotherapy can be the chapter in a person’s life where stuck circumstances finally start to change. Psychotherapy can be the chapter where a person grieves their losses, confronts their fears, heals deep-seated wounds, and finds within themselves the courage and strength to go forward with greater confidence, joy, and peace.

In an effort to offer you the most effective support possible, I have completed post-graduate certificates in evidence-based therapies such as Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and perinatal mental health.
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Many people initiate therapy when something big is going on in their life – mental health symptoms, a big life change, or a sudden loss. But you don’t have to wait until life feels overwhelming to seek support. I welcome it all into my practice - no concern is too big or too small to bring to therapy. I specialize in supporting adults (18+) in healing from trauma, depression and anxiety, and supporting those navigating the perinatal period (including perinatal mental health issues), perfectionism/people pleasing, and those that identify as empaths and highly sensitive people (HSP).

EMDR Counsellors

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
