NOW taking new clients. My specialty is working with adults who may have experienced childhood abuse, trauma or neglect. I help folks gain back the present, rather than being pulled into fears from the past or worries about the future. With over 15 years experience, I've seen that when people can safely address the traumas in their life, they reduce their anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships and trust, low self-esteem and overwhelming emotions, among other things.

Healing from pain, trauma, and abuse is possible.
As a Christian woman, it’s hard navigating your experiences of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Your pain and suffering makes you question “If God is good, then why hasn’t he healed me? Is there something wrong with me? Do I not have enough faith?” Maybe past painful experiences of abuse or neglect haunt you and you can’t seem to forgive and move on. Depression and anxiety feel out of your control leaving you scared and hopeless. You pray and pray and pray and it doesn’t stop. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help as you hoped. You desire and need the peace promised in the bible but it feels so far away.

I have worked with many people who have experienced abuse, depression and grief or who are faced with the challenges of a new stage of life or health.
I am a Jungian Psychoanalyst offering Jungian Analysis to individuals who want a deeper understanding of themselves. For many reasons, these persons feel emotionally in pain, conflicted or unbalanced in their inner and/or outer life and would benefit from exploring the deep rooted causes of relationship problems and unproductive emotional patterns. The direction of therapy is to look to the past and to the unconscious determinants of behaviour but also to open to the creative and positive movements of the psyche that offer a way forward even in the face of the greatest difficulties or trauma.

Hello! My name is Shaelyn Busby and I am a fully registered psychotherapist. Are you looking for a therapist to support your child or your family in making changes? Change can be scary, difficult, and intimidating even when we know change is for the better. Family relationships are hard - especially as a child. Every client is different so I believe every treatment plan should be tailored to the individual.

Waitlist for new clients

If you are on this journey, then you may want someone to walk alongside to help you move forward. Once you have this support, then it's time to start preparing for the journey! This could include remembering what's important to you, and working through the challenges that make the path forward difficult. You might even need to equip yourself with new skills and discover new paths towards a goal.

Domestic Abuse Counsellors

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
