We all feel untethered at various points in life. I can offer a different perspective in those moments, challenge negative self talk and help you recognize and build on your strengths. If you want change in your life, I can help you craft that. If you need to re-establish boundaries, I can help you do this. If anxiety or depression are overwhelming I can help you develop healthy strategies. If you're struggling with changes in relationships or loss of relationship I offer compassionate constructive assistance. There is nothing that you can't talk about with me, and once shared, problems can be carried and resolved together.

I aim to help my clients by cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship where I can act as a sounding board and a cheerleader while also challenging you and holding you accountable to yourself and your goals.
I strongly believe in the human capacity for growth and change and that we are all students on life's journey to becoming the best version of ourselves; sometimes we need extra help, support, and encouragement along the way. I strive to provide my clients with a supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can feel safe to explore your personal challenges and issues. I believe individuals do not need to be suffering from a mental illness to seek counselling, but rather have the desire and motivation to be a better version of themselves tomorrow.

That could be your partner, other loved ones or activities, or your sensuality.
You look at your life, and find that something feels off. Maybe your sex life is not what you imagined it would be. Or you’re not feeling fulfilled in your relationship/s. You know what's important to you - connection? intimacy? adventure? family? - but something prevents you from living life to the fullest. Perhaps anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, or shame get in the way. Or you’ve faced a stressor or health issue that has brought new roadblocks. You may have even been on autopilot for so long, being the kind of person you “should” be for others, that you don’t know exactly who you are anymore.

I have extensive experience with addiction, relationship conflict and people struggling to manage their emotions.
Life is hard! I specialize in managing anxiety, stress, and depression. These emotions, if not dealt with can lead to arguments, regret or using substances to cope. I understand the daily challenges of working, adulting, parenting and trying to maintain your health. I have 26 years experience with first responders and veterans and am a trained Wounded Warriors of Canada Service Provider. I know how these jobs can sometimes hijack your life and your family. I also work with teenagers and youth to build life skills to deal with challenges. Getting therapy before things blow up can minimize your problems and prevent future ones.

I support individuals in their quest for personal growth, encouraging self-compassion, confidence, authenticity and self-determination, and I support couples that strive to strengthen and deepen their primary relationships.
Currently accepting individual clients only. Many of us -young and older- experience trials in life and in our relationships that challenge our ability to function, feel secure and prosper. We may struggle to cope when life's events compromise and overwhelm our support networks and coping mechanisms. I provide non-judgmental support to help identify and overcome patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling that are no longer adaptive, and help establish new awareness, habits, attitudes and actions. I support adults as they navigate life transitions and the accompanying anxiety, depression, grief and substance use.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
