Communicating with your partner is hard. You replay arguments over and over. You feel criticized by your partner and do not feel heard. The idea of voicing your needs feels overwhelming and frustrating. As time has passed, talking to your partner has become minimal. There is less sharing of your feelings due to feelings of disappointment of not being heard. Your partner and you feel disconnected and lack communication. You are exhausted at working so hard to have a genuine relationship and it feels like nothing is working. What you want is to feel you can confide in your partner, feel loved, feel heard and supported.

As a Muslim Iraqi immigrant woman, I'm aware of the stigmas that fall within society, and I want to use my cultural competence acquired through my education, clinical and lived experience to help clients struggling with their mental health.
I completed a Master of Science in Neuroscience and Mental Health from King's College London, and am completing my practicum hours at Yorkville University's MACP program. Understanding the neurobiology of mental health provides a different perspective to my clients. Through that, I can provide multifaceted services to my clients to help engage both physiological and psychological understanding of their mental health. Knowledge is power, and by gaining our power, we begin to heal.

I work with women struggling with anxiety, anger, ADHD, parenting, marriage counselling, relationship issues, and stress.
Accepting clients! Having been in counselling myself, I know what a relief it is to find someone with whom you feel comfortable to help sort out some of the stressors and troubles of everyday life. Perhaps you would like to chat about a number of issues that are piling up and you don’t know what to do. Or, maybe something really big has happened and you feel overwhelmed and like nothing in your life will ever be the same again. No matter what your concern, I'm driven to help you reach a life of peace and to no longer feel victimized by your struggles.

Life isn't going as planned? Having difficulties connecting with your partner, or being able to relate to your children? Perhaps you're feeling isolated, alone, or lost, possibly out of control. These are all signals that life is currently not in balance. If you're finding that your current day to day is not what you had hoped, not what you intend it to be then I commend you for looking for a resource that can help you get back on track.

As a therapist, this quote speaks volumes as I do believe that great change comes from working through the daily struggles that we experience: "The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one.

I provide a caring and safe environment for my clients, valuing the process of getting to understand them on a deeper level. Therapy will be both emotionally explorative and solution-focused each session, allowing the client to learn about one’s thoughts and feelings, as well as develop coping skills in order to reduce negative symptoms. I have gathered experience working with teens, adults, and couples, with a special interest in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, individual therapy for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-harm and trauma, as well as couples therapy focusing on relational, marital and/or sexual difficulties.

I most enjoy working with adult, female clients who are wrestling with emotion regulation, anxiety, trauma, relationships, loss, self-worth, parenting, faith (Christianity), and more.
Are you craving more calm? Improving your relationship with self can help foster greater trust and overall health, and it will often improve your relationship with those who matter most to you too. Therapy is intended to help you better navigate life’s inevitable challenges – uncertainties, transitions, and hurts – with greater care and intentionality. We do this by looking at your strengths, your values, better understanding your emotions, finding different perspectives, and by growing your self-compassion and self-confidence.

As a therapist, I strive to help individuals thrive in their day to day lives. I have a very wholistic and integrative approach with each of my clients in counselling, drawing on many areas of psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive, behavioural, humanistic and systemic) to help a client best achieve their goals. This means that with one client, we might choose to focus more on cognitive-behavioural techniques but with another we may focus more on working through past experiences. Therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” method, and so working together to find what works best is key.

Have you worked hard to change the way you think and yet struggle to change the way you feel? I may be able to help you. I am an RP in fully independent practice, and I believe that holistic, meaningful and lasting change can occur when we weave our body and our mind's voices and experiences into the narrative of who we are and who we aspire to be. If you have ever listened to your "gut" instinct, soothed yourself using breath or felt the urge to move to a favourite song, you have experienced the benefit of the mind-body connection! Together, we will deepen this connection therapeutically to encourage relief, change and growth.

I specialize in helping helpers - because as a medical professional or caregiver you're wonderful at caring for others but get caught in the trap of being too busy to care for yourself. You put the needs of others above your own and get lost trying to re-establish balance. I am also passionate about helping those grieving. Despite recognizing the natural process of grief, it can feel confusing, isolating, shocking and overwhelming to navigate the wide range of emotions. At times, these two intersect when caregivers become bereaved and it can feel impossible to navigate life moving forward.

As your therapist, I will continuously strive to cultivate an authentic connection with you based on trust, empathy, and compassion using a trauma-and-violence informed lens. I believe that by understanding your experiences I can best support you to achieve your goals. My aim is to work in collaboration with you, while holding a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable to share your experiences. I view therapy as you being the driver, and myself being a passenger working alongside you.

Hi there! Choosing a therapist can be so difficult and it’s important to find someone who you feel seen and heard by. We may be a good fit if you are queer, neurodiverse, have a complicated relationship with family, or feel like you don’t quite fit in anywhere. I hope to support my clients with finding meaning, fulfillment, and purpose in their lives whether that be healing past wounds, making sense of ones’ identity, or navigating life transitions. You also don’t need to know exactly what you’re looking for or need, that can be a valuable part of the process too.
