About Me:  Since practicing I have observed that past events unconsciously continue to shape our reactions to our present situations, Often times coping skills that worked for individuals are no longer working now. In an accepting and safe space we will work collaboratively to understand why that is and work toward relieving that activation to move forward.   I am here to guide a support you, as you begin this journey of processing and understanding the root of your emotional activation in a healthy way through EMDR. I am excited as you begin this journey and I am looking forward to working with you in the near future.

Feeling a little stuck in life? Not sure where to even start? I'd love to help! I’m looking to provide therapy to individuals who have traumas they would like to work through, addictions they are looking to overcome, or maybe they just need somebody to really listen. Sometimes it’s hard to open up to the people in our lives, and having a third-party option to discuss life struggles can be beneficial. I’m hoping to talk to my clients who need some direction in becoming the best version of themselves. No matter where you’ve come from, you can always carry the light going forward!

I work with women struggling with burnout, over-giving, and neglecting themselves. These women often feel guilt around self-care, powerless, and lack assertiveness. Driven by high-functioning anxiety, they constantly pursue productivity and achievement, yet feel disconnected from who they truly are. Their goal is to reconnect with their core values and authenticity. I want to guide them back to a more peaceful, fulfilled life, aligned with their true desires and sense of freedom, helping them move beyond burnout and rediscover balance.

Families face many pressures in today’s fast paced high tech society with over packed schedules and focus on achievement. More children are struggling with flooded emotions, and those with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders experience difficulties navigating community systems that are often not built for them. I am confident that I can help children, youth, and their parents in honoring their uniqueness and strengths while developing lifelong strategies so that they can thrive in their homes, schools, and communities.

Welcome! Life presents with many challenges... work stress, relationship stress, health issues, parenting, caregiving of parents, juggling so many different responsibilities. It can seem overwhelming when trying to manage it all. And sometimes struggles or hurts from the past, can seem to creep into our everyday lives when we would much rather leave those hurts behind. What a relief it would be... to release those worries, to alleviate those stresses, to heal those hurts. They are heavy to carry, and as we try to keep going, they get heavier along the way. What if, you could have help, to change that...

Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons. Sometimes it's a more immediate or situational concern (ie relationship breakdown), while other times therapy is sought out because of a long standing or historical issue (ie mental health diagnosis). What I have learned over my many years of practice is that it takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach out for support. But change is possible. Realizing that you are not alone in your struggles is very powerful. Having a safe and nonjudgmental space to process your concerns and establish a path forward- in a way that is meaningful to you- is what I believe every client deserves.

Self Esteem Counsellors

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
