We all need support at different times in our lives and I understand that reaching out for this help can be difficult. My therapeutic approach is to connect with you, where you are at, as the first step in our work. From there, we will strive to recognize where change is needed and how to create this change for a more manageable place in life. Understanding your story, respectfully and safely, then creating goals for success and how to get there, will be the direction of our work together. With my primary focus on anxiety, depression, family issues and grief, the ultimate outcome of our work should feel progressive and empowering.

I work with clients who are finding their true identity and ready to release any aspect of themselves and their story that no longer serve them. This includes clients that have unresolved experiences from their recent or distant past that would like professional guidance in processing such from a trauma-informed and empathic lens. Clients that are ready for change and able to dedicate their energy to their own healing, in and out of session, with my support. Clients that may feel stuck, low-mood, unmotivated or confused in how to progress in life but are feeling called to evolve into a fulfilled & grateful version of themselves.

It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

People require help with various issues at some point of their lifes. It could be difficulty making a decision, relationship problems, dissatisfaction with career, financial warries, losses, illness, or injury. Regardless of the magnitude of the problem it is often beneficial to discuss your problem with a professional who may help you to see the issue from a different perspective and to arrive to a satisfactory solution. Some problems require numerous sessions, but sometimes even one or few sessions result in improved mood and self-confidence and help to gain insights that could lead to desired changes.

Traditional therapy methods assume that everyone’s problems can be solved by participating in weekly 1-hour sessions using one-size-fits-all protocols. This approach focuses on treating disorders, rather than people, and the latest research does not support this approach. I want to understand YOU, as a person. Together we'll figure out the underlying reasons you are stuck, and we’ll create an individualized plan for long-term change. Are your emotions overwhelming? Maybe you feel numb? Do you repeatedly respond to situations in unhelpful ways? Whatever the reasons, we’ll work together to help you take back control of your life.

I have specialized training in: marital/relationship/family conflicts, traumatic brain injuries, impulse control, and Cluster B personality issues.
Change is a difficult and humbling process. Being patient, kind, and forgiving of ourselves is not usually something we learned as children. Talk therapy is not advice or guidance: it's learning to hear your own decision-making processes, noticing feelings and what needs your trying to meet, discovering your value systems, and moving forward with small deliberate changes. Together in session we will tailor the work we do to suit your specific concerns. Researching therapists, going to therapy, looking at our least helpful patterns, or deliberating on whether to stay or leave a difficult situation takes courage. I congratulate you.

Thinking of making a change? Are you curious as to what this might look like? It can seem overwhelming to search for the right therapist for yourself. It is also normal to feel afraid and overwhelmed by everything you are dealing with. You are showing a lot of courage by reaching out and looking for guidance; it is much easier to run away from all of it. If you are looking to come to therapy to explore new practical ways of coping, this may be the start of our journey together in rewriting your story. We will work to overcome barriers that get in your way and help you to become the best version of yourself.

Having served as a Combat Engineer, I was medically released from the CAF after a TBI.
Are you a First Responder or a Veteran navigating civvy street? Whether you served in the Military or are a Firefighter, Paramedic, or Police Officer, no one is immune to the stresses of service. For those without this experience, connecting meaningfully can be tough. For me, cultural competency means more than just recognizing your service—it’s about personal experience in uniform.

I became a Social Worker because of this intrinsic desire to walk alongside people through their pain and into their growth. As I’ve continued my own growth, both personally and professionally, I have developed a deep passion for working with folks across the lifespan, from ages 8 to 90, as they work towards healing and peace. I have worked with folks with various neurotypes, substance use and addiction, those experiencing housing insecurity and poverty, intimate partner violence/domestic violence, trauma and attachment challenges, self-esteem, emotion regulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation/suicidality, Dementia, and TBI/ABIs.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Counsellors
When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.
What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilisation, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counselling.
How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?
The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.
What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?
If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
