I work with clients who struggle with "regulation difficulties". When your "motor" is running automatically, too fast or too slow, it is very difficult to respond efficiently and thoughtfully. My clients struggle to be present, are unable to respond appropriately in times of stress, and cannot maintain a direction in life. Some of my clients have difficulties such as Complex Trauma, attachment issues, depression, anxiety and ADHD. This can happen to men, women, children and teens. Learning to be regulated can improve one's ability to focus and to learn, to be able to manage one's life and have deep meaningful relationships.

I help people (age 12+) to navigate the ups & downs that come with life, including issues related to stress, negative self talk, emotion regulation, self-esteem, and other emotional and/or mental health challenges (including ADHD, self-harm, school avoidance, anxiety, perfectionism, and more). My style of therapy supports gentle curiousity about the roots of an emotion and/or behaviour, building internal resources, and increasing resiliency. After all, life isn’t always easy and I want people to trust that they have the understanding, capabilities, and skills to get through (and even thrive!), especially when things get rough.

I have expertise working with people of all ages struggling with ADHD, anxiety & depression.
Life can be fun & exciting, it can also be lonely, overwhelming, & stressful. Times like this, you're more likely to be hard on yourself, speak critically, not recognize your worth, or make poor decisions that hold you back from reaching your full potential. Therapy is a tool that helps you identify challenges & recognize the critical thoughts that keep you from living the life you deserve. I've worked in the field of mental health for 30 years. My primary focus has been working with children, youth, & parents. I've worked within many sectors including schools. I have an excellent understanding of systems & how to navigate them.

I love working with children, teens, and adults facing anxiety, depression, low mood, lack of motivation and purpose, complex trauma, abusive relationships, suicide & self harm, as well as ADHD & ASD and personality disorders.
I am so excited you are here! Therapy for me has been a place of safety, growth, and healing, and my passion is to provide the same for you. I believe we are born with an intuitive sense of knowing, and as we grow up, our experiences can either drown out, or confuse our own intuition. My goal is for you to find a place of safety in which you can heal, and gently tune back in to your own voice & intuition to guide you. Your unique experiences and pain deserve to be given attention and care, and through this process we can discover and heal what is hindering you from living your life to the fullest.

My areas of expertise include Learning Disabilities, ADHD, behavior and socio-emotional functioning.
I am here to help you understand how your child learns and how he or she can be better supported in school. If you find that homework completion is a challenge, that reading is hard for your child, or that your child’s efforts are not reflected in his or her grades, then perhaps it is time to consider a psycho-educational assessment. This will allow us to identify areas of learning strength and likewise areas that present as challenges. We will be in a position to understand the nature of the learning struggles and the strategies that parents and teachers can offer to better support your child’s learning at home and at school.

As someone who’s walked the path of ADHD and navigated the world as an empath, I get how tough it can be to keep up in an often overwhelming world.
You’re someone who’s always pushing forward, balancing the demands of life, career, and personal goals. You’ve explored self-help resources, dabbled in mindfulness, and perhaps even sought therapy, but still feel like you’re not where you want to be. Overwhelm, anxiety, self-doubt, or maybe ADHD are part of your daily challenges, compounded by the quest for a healthier work-life balance. Your relationships might also reflect this struggle, marked by a tendency to prioritize others’ needs or finding it hard to achieve fulfillment with those closest to you.

I support adults with ADHD who want to lead meaningful, fulfilling lives. Adult ADHD can cause challenges with scheduling, time management, organization, relationships, and emotions. People can feel consistently behind, disorganized, overwhelmed, and easily frustrated. I help clients figure out what goals are most important to them, and we work together to organize the chaos so there is more time, energy, and patience for the things that really matter. You do not need an official ADHD diagnosis to work with me.

My focus is supporting folks navigating trauma, ptsd, adhd, anxiety and more! From me, you can expect warmth, curiosity, and acceptance to support you in building more effective coping strategies, develop healing and a better understanding of self.
Change, growth, challenges, and transitions are inevitable, unavoidable, and often completely unexpected in life resulting in small traumas that can still cause significant distress in daily functioning. A part of being human involves having perceived “demons” in our closets or events we experienced in our past or childhood that may impact our present-day functioning. You may have unintentionally learned that repressing or not talking about these small traumas is the “appropriate” way to cope but it may not be working resulting in you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, upset, and like you are spinning out of control.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
