I have specialized training in Family Therapy & Parent-Child Attachment Therapies, Trauma Treatment, EMDR, CBT, Expressive Arts and Sandtray.
I believe that families are the experts of their own experience, and that children and teens have innate wisdom about their own thoughts and feelings. My goal is to create a supportive space for this wisdom to come forward, fostering healing and resilience that extends beyond the therapy space. My individual work with children and teens is complimented by evidence-based parent consultation; equipping caregivers with tools to better understand their child's behaviour, strengthen family bonds, and co-create solutions to problems.

My areas of specialty include PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-worth, men's issues, and spirituality.
Trauma, depression, and other mental health issues can often cause individuals to become "stuck" leading to feelings of resignation or hopelessness. It can often feel like the individual is at the bottom of a well which keeps getting deeper, with the light out feeling further and further out of reach. It can lead individuals to believe that there is no path forwards, or that any path forward is one devoid of meaning or fulfillment.

I work from a trauma-informed and mindfulness-based perspective, with a compassionate and gentle approach to trauma, addiction, grief, and relationship issues.
We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

I work with clients who are experiencing a range of challenges related to anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, trauma, grief & loss, addictions, performance, loss of sense of self or meaning.
Sometimes life can have us feeling stuck in the same difficult patterns, feeling disconnected from our self & our sense of meaning, connection, presence and contentment. We may find ourselves on life’s path, believing that we are making progress, only to find that we have journeyed back to the same struggles. When we find ourselves here, it may be time to reach out for support. I believe that therapy gives us the space to delve below our current experience, into the root causes that are feeding our present challenges. When we experience healing at the roots, we can make lasting positive changes in our lives.

I have extensive training in postpartum/perinatal mental health, birth and reproductive trauma and am trained in Circle of Security parenting support.
Society tells us becoming a parent should to be natural, joyful, and will happen within our desired timeline. For some there is truth to this, but many parents are left disoriented with the gap between their expectations and reality. We are urged to pour into our children, give them all of our attention, but also find time for ourselves and our relationship. The challenges of this stage of life can leave parents feeling lonely, overwhelmed and with a sense of personal failure. You might wonder who you even are anymore and if things will ever change - If you are struggling, you are not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay this way.

I provide gender-affirming counselling, am a somatic experiencing practitioner for trauma (SEP), a trained DBT therapist, and a Certified Clinical Services Provider for ADHD (CCSP-ADHD).
I’m here for the parents who aren't ready to give up hope, and for the teens and young adults who are clinging to life. Whether because of trauma, of neurodivergence (ADHD/ADD) or the need for a more gender-affirming world, life has been rocky. It’s been difficult to connect, sleep has been elusive, panic has been setting in and the future seems sort of bleak. At least that’s how it’s been, at least for right now. So you're looking for a therapist who gets it: your gender identity, your life experience and your inner knowing matter.

For 40+ yrs I've helped those who haven't been helped before using tools that are Attachment Based, Trauma informed & rooted in Internal Family Systems.
Life is not always easy. We get hurt, confused, misunderstood. People we count on are not always there for us even if we reach out. Some of us de-stress with connection, some by being alone. This conflict can leave us feeling abandoned or overwhelmed. Therapy uses curiosity about ourselves to become more resilient, self aware, & relational. Not all problems get solved by random talking. My tools help you get unstuck and deepen your sense of intimacy with yourself and others. Your first time with therapy can be comfortable and productive. Check out the articles I've published in Psychology Today and call for a no obligation consult.

I specialize in trauma treatment, using EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
I understand that finding the right therapist can be a challenging process, and I appreciate you taking this step. In my work with individuals, I focus on exploring how early childhood experiences and upbringing shape our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes, the beliefs we develop to protect ourselves can unintentionally create challenges in our lives and relationships. Together, we’ll identify and understand how these past experiences continue to affect you today. By addressing these root concerns, we can work toward fostering a more adaptive and healing view of yourself.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
