Hello, Warriors and Freedom Fighters: It is safe to state that we'll go thru life with an aim and desire to conquer challenges and prosper within our relationships, marriage, family, and career. But life can take us down a one-way street we had no thought or desire of entering, and we may have lost our way emotionally or spiritually. The impact of this may have led to stress, anxiety, and a breakdown along the way. As these elements can hinder the quality of life we were meant to have, one may need professional assistance to navigate feelings and focus.

I also provide guidance for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, domestic violence, couple and family counselling, life transitions, parent and teen conflicts and women's issues.
Everyone embarks on unique journeys involving various overwhelming challenges including emotional and mental health issues, substance abuse and relationship issues. My colleagues and I fully understand that when two or more people cope with similar circumstances, no two minds function alike. Therefore, my services instill clients with how to love themselves through comprehensive, mental, emotional and spiritual enrichment regardless of their age, social or ethnic background, or physical capacities. Overall, the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing clients reach self-actualization by gaining strength, confidence and empowerment to confront their own inner conflicts "for we all smile in the same language".

Struggling to manage work, parenting and family relationships can be difficult. What is helpful is taking the steps to recognize you need support, even though it is not an easy task to do so. Helping people to reach that goal has always been my passion. Recognizing and moving forward towards changing and breaking patterns of behaviour and / boundaries in relationships, may be what you need to alter your current path.

For many of us, it’s easy to allow our mental health to take a backseat in our everyday lives. We may rely on distractions but we know that it’s time to look for support that will lead us into maintaining a healthier relationship with our mental health. I work with adults and children 9 and up who are seeking treatment in family conflict, anger management, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations, self-esteem, school-related issues and women’s issues. As a Registered Psychotherapist, my hope is to support clients who are looking to address these matters in a safe and stigma-free zone.

My trauma-informed practice includes (Mental health, Abuse, Violence, Family-Conflict, Pre-marital & Couple support, Clinical Supervision & School concerns).
I am so glad that you are contemplating the start of a 'therapeutic journey' as life can sometimes feel overwhelming and difficult to manage on your own. I know it takes ‘courage’ to reach out for support, and I understand that we sometimes need a 'place' to share our burdens. I also recognize that it can be ‘scary’ to seek help, but my practice includes a ‘non-traditional’ holistic ‘Christian & Biblical Perspective’, where we can work together to reach your full potential as a child of 'God'. Contact me, as it would be my privilege to work with you, during this time in your life. So let's get started.

I can help you navigate family conflict, the expectations of others, prioritize yourself more, and say "no" more often.
As a second-generation Indo-Canadian, I too have often found it overwhelming and confusing to keep up with the different roles that are expected of us. Living up to these expectations may feel impossible. It is not unusual to have a hard time saying "no", and put yourself and your needs last even when you might not want to. It is common to question your sense of self and be curious about a life that feels more true to yourself and that aligns more with your values. Even reaching out for professional support can feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to constantly feel like you’re not good enough, have little hope things will get better or apologize often to your loved ones for letting your anger take over again. Your values are different from your family's so you keep parts of your life hidden, that can’t be easy. What worries you the most about setting boundaries in your relationships? It’s okay that you still get sad when you think about their passing, you miss them and healing from that takes time. Tell me, what’s it like in this place in your relationship where you’re fighting constantly and each day you grow a little further apart.

Possess over 20 years of social work experience working with individuals, youths, older adults and families in mental health, child welfare and community services. I enjoy watching the light bulb go off for each young person that I work with as they learn just how much they are capable of achieving. It is rewarding to see them lighting up when praised for a job well-done, or realizing that they are capable of accomplishing anything that they set their minds to. I enjoy watching the joy that a new sense of confident brings to them and their families.

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
