Life is not bringing the joy you anticipated: You imagined life with a baby to be joyful and more fulfilling. You are disconnected, on edge, teary or angry without knowing why. Relationships are triggering your past or you feel you must not be like your parents, but how? Maybe you are having flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, nightmares or your relationship patterns stop you from feeling safe, present or able to calm your anxious body. You just can't cope anymore, or want someone to support you in a way that does not feel like extra work. You need space to process this new life and the life that came before.

Here’s what I do to help. I integrate key therapeutic principles drawing on a wide range of psychodynamic, cognitive behavior and dialectical behavior modalities, in which I invite you to sit down with me in a relaxed, safe, informal way, and talk. If you've never been in psychotherapy, it can be hard to believe that "just talking" can be helpful. But if you’re depressed, anxious and feeling bad about yourself, you can be profoundly helped by an in-depth conversation in which you come to create greater self-understanding, discover insights and meanings, recognize patterns, and explore options and skills.

Rachel has always had a passion for helping others which is why she spent the last 10 years working in the law field. Working in law exposed her to the complexities of life, developing her belief that change, growth and healing is possible if individuals are supported with compassion, empathy, and non-judgement. This belief has become her therapeutic approach, along with valuing that each client is unique, making the therapy process unique. Rachel will walk alongside clients through their challenges and suffering, hold a space for healing, and help clients move towards a life more in alignment with meaning and purpose

Racing heart, shaking hands, breathlessness, and an urgent sense of imminent danger are some of the signs of anxiety. Some people have heart palpitations or flutters, prickling sensations, choking sensations, dizziness or nausea. It's important to rule out medical factors, but if a doctor has told you that your symptoms are being caused by stress or anxiety, know that this is a highly treatable condition and it doesn't mean you're weak or crazy. In fact, feeling like you're losing your mind and having difficulty focusing are features of extreme anxiety! We can address this.

Therapy shouldn't feel like a chore. While it might sometimes be hard to hear what is discussed in therapy, overall you should leave feeling like you've gained something useful or even transformative. Over time, you should feel you are getting stronger, more resilient and have shed layers of fear and anxiety. Of course this process can be overwhelming at times and you might not always progress on the timeframe that you thought you would, but when therapy goes well, you should feel more settled and more clear about your life. You should gain understanding about yourself and others and have a renewed sense of purpose and passion

Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile. My aim is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space that allows you to explore further than symptoms to learn why they show up. My work is trauma-informed and attachment-based. I have a passion for supporting my child, teen and adult clients in having "aha moments" as they learn about themselves, discover the connections between experiences and the brains natural drive to protect, use this understanding to uncover how it impacts present day, and ultimately gain symptom relief. I provide Clinical Supervision (which meet CRPO standards) and Consultation for upcoming and developed counsellors.

Life happens, I understand. We all go through our ups and downs every now and then. Facing your challenges alone can be quite difficult. In my practice, I support clients aged 16+ who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, behavioural concerns as well as trauma/PTSD. I also work with clients who would like to address their overall emotional wellbeing, process grief and loss, or adjust to difficult life transitions.

Let’s get this clear from the start: you aren’t ill, disordered, or flawed. You’re a human living in a world that creates constant stress and demands perfection. SO, while we will work on improving your quality of life, we’re going to focus on UNlearning just as much as learning. I like to explore, challenge, and empower you to lean into the difficult stuff using a gentle yet firm approach. My goal is to help you be able to accept those uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without being overwhelmed by them, and to connect you with a sense of confidence, clarity, and courage to live the way you want to.
