I believe that thinking outside of our literal reality allows us to see the world through a more creative lense and find alternate ways of dealing with our problems. As a result, I use the Expressive Arts as a tool for therapy. Being a first generation immigrant from a mixed heritage, I have a deep understanding of the unique needs of those of diverse backgrounds living in the GTA.

Feeling overwhelmed by emotions, thoughts, and circumstances? If you’re having more “bad” days than good and struggling to cope, you don’t have to face this alone. For children, it might feel like school or social pressures are too much, while adults may be dealing with work stress, relationship or family issues, or life changes. Whether you're a child or an adult, I offer a warm, supportive space to explore these challenges. Together, we can find effective ways to manage stress, rebuild resilience, and navigate your path to a brighter, more balanced life.

Can you imagine if therapy took place while hiking through the forest, sunbathing in a field of wildflowers, chilling with some chickens, sitting around a campfire or simply from the comfort of your kitchen table? I believe that therapy has a real image problem that could be improved by embracing a healing realm which includes mother nature, play and genuine human connection. If you are considering therapy for you or someone you care about, but the thought of sitting in an office turns you off, then let's connect where you're at, or where I'm at: on 25 aces in Hamilton's wild west Flamborough!

People who may not be able to experience other kinds of psychotherapies are often more open to the benefits of music therapy. You can develop love for life through creative music making, because music plays incredible role in human well-being. I provide a person-centred and evidence-based music therapy/psychotherapy, using a heart-centred model as a representative of the humanistic approach, and a music-centred model as a professional musician, which gives me a wide range of musical and verbal choices for implementing activities and allows me to be flexible in selecting methods and techniques.

So often, I find that the world today is struggling with a lack of connection. Whether it’s the connection between parent and child, siblings, individual to group, or the connection we feel deep within ourselves, many are feeling lost, unheard, and alone. There's no doubt that it can be difficult to seek help and support, so I'm glad you're here - as it truly takes courage to reach out and advocate for ourselves and our loved ones.

Accepting New Clients: In-Person & Phone/Video. We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

An ideal client would be someone who is willing to put in the work to take a step towards change. Yet, you may not be ready for change, either way therapy is a safe form to find out. Toddler Counsellors

What are the behavioural signs indicating a toddler might need counselling?

Common behavioural signs that a child may need counselling include high levels of emotional distress or anxiety, learning challenges, interpersonal conflict, anger, or social withdrawal. Any drastic changes in toddler behaviour or self-esteem can be indicative that a child may benefit from therapy. Seeing a therapist at the early stages of any behavioural changes can be most impactful on behaviour, as well as helpful to caregivers who may receive guidance on what symptoms to look for in their child in the future, even if therapy is not warranted at that time.

Can a two-year-old see a psychologist?

Children and adults of all ages can see psychologists and other forms of mental health professionals, such as counsellors, psychiatrists, and social workers. Families seeking therapy for their toddler should just be aware that any guidance they seek should come from a professional who has specific experience working with young children, as well as the specific modalities that are appropriate for young children, such as play therapy.

What is the most effective type of therapy for toddlers and preschoolers?

In general, play therapy is the most effective and common form of therapy for young children. Play therapy helps facilitate behaviour change by offering an age-appropriate way for children to express their emotions and develop more effective coping strategies. Toddlers with specific concerns may benefit from more specialised forms of therapy, such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for toddlers in families in which there is significant parent-child relational conflict.

What happens during therapy sessions for toddlers?

What occurs in therapy sessions for toddlers depends on the therapeutic approach being used by the therapist. Most toddler therapists will use some form of play therapy in sessions to encourage toddler engagement. In play therapy sessions, children are encouraged to use toys within the therapy setting to express their emotions; subsequent responses by the therapist and/or family members can help guide toddler behaviour and behaviour change. Toddler therapy sessions can also involve family therapy or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which can help improve parenting behaviours and reduce strain on families.
