Welcome! The three main values within my work are connection, empathy, and safety. Connection allows relationships to grow, empathy shows the client that they are being heard and supported, and safety allows a space to share without judgement. I have significant training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and use an evidence-based approach for concerns related to Anxiety , Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Specific Phobias, and PTSD.

Mental health is never static; it ebbs and flows with the unique realities of our lives through experiences of joy, trauma, growth, loss, relationships and everyday stress. Understandably, some of those moments' impacts will leave us bruised, lost or broken. The concept of becoming overwhelmed by one’s thoughts, feelings, or bodily existence can create a sense of chaos and hopelessness; a future that you, the individual daring enough to be in this moment, have determined is but a moment of your journey, not your story. Therefore, I offer a space where you can experience safety in exploration and guidance in the recovery of self.

I have extensive experience helping people cope with Depression and Anxiety symptoms, trauma, anger management, addiction, relationship, and work related challenges.
How are you feeling? What are you thinking? What actions are you taking? Why are these things happening? Those are some of the classic questions asked by a therapist, but you’ve already been asking these questions. The answers are different for each person, and for different points in time. You might respond with, "I’m anxious, or sad, or angry", "I’m troubled about the past, or I'm worried about the future", "I’m drinking too much, or I’m distancing my family". Sometimes the answer is, "I don’t know, but I want to figure it out".

My areas of expertise include eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, and I have a special interest in pregnancy loss and infertility.
Starting therapy can be scary, and I commend you for taking that first big step in searching for a therapist. I describe my approach as very gentle initially, and I work alongside you to determine goals and hopes for therapy. I strive to provide a safe, empathetic, and neutral space for you to freely discuss your thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. I aim to instil hope, and guide you to a place in which you feel you are heading towards the person you are aiming to be. Together we will move at a pace that feels comfortable to you, and I both welcome and encourage ongoing feedback to ensure you are getting what you need from sessions.

Trauma, addiction, and mental health struggles are all too familiar for countless people in Canada. These challenges often feel like overwhelming mountains, blocking the light and making it hard to see the path ahead. Yet, there is no reason for anyone to walk this path alone. My approach to holistic care is neither formulaic nor prescriptive. Rather, it is compassionate and patient. I blend evidence-based therapies, such as CBT, ACT, DBT with somatic techniques and energy medicine to nurture and support one meaningful step at a time.

With more than 12 years of experience, my focus is on facilitating healing from trauma, men's mental health, and supporting young adults as they transition to adulthood.
Everyone gets a little stuck sometimes. We experience painful experiences that can be hard to move past. We become overwhelmed by our responsibilities and sometimes burn out. We get in arguments with loved ones, and we make mistakes. We're human. If you're looking to get back on track, you've come to the right place. My goal is to support you in learning to balance the conflicting expectations and responsibilities in your life, and also make time for the things that you enjoy. To support you as you explore your own needs and desires and learn to have compassion for yourself, instead of beating yourself up all of the time.

I am trained in Play Therapy, AutPlay Therapy, TraumaPlay, Theraplay, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
All of our children are so very unique and constantly changing. Sometimes they need a helping hand to keep them moving along to thrive in their relationships and connections with others; or to develop strategies to support emotional regulation, social skills, life skills, anxiety reduction, concentration and focus, or processing of traumatic events. Throughout the process, parent/caregiver participation is a key component when it comes to working with children. My long-standing experience with neurodivergent children, youth, and their families will provide you with the reassurance you need to move forward.

For almost 10 years I have been providing counselling and therapy services to individuals and families. During my career I have supported adults, children, youth and families to manage experiences of anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship issues, stress, trauma, grief and loss, parenting challenges and more. I am known for my empathetic approach, my ability to build strong relationships with my clients, and my commitment to ensuring that everyone I work with feels heard, valued, and supported. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach and tailor my practice to fit each client’s needs and best interests.

I provide individual therapy (including children 7+) for difficult life transitions, divorce/separation, grief/loss, anger and stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma, and low self-esteem.
I have always had a passion for helping others. With previous work experience in different environments, I have been exposed to the complexities of life, which has developed my belief that change, growth and healing is possible if individuals are supported with compassion, empathy, and non-judgement. This belief has become my therapeutic approach, along with recognizing and valuing that each client is unique, making the therapy process unique.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
