I am an art therapist who works with children, teens and adults. I continuously marvel at the wisdom of the body and bring an embodiment/mindfulness focus into my practice. My practice is queer affirming, trauma informed, abolitionist, and integrative. Together we can integrate stressful life experiences and challenging emotions, cultivate self-compassion and inner-knowing, and foster connection and belonging. I am available for online as well as in-person in my studio in the Annapolis Valley. Online art therapy can be a great fit for people who live farther away.

Stress, depression, and anxiety can overwhelm our minds and bodies, making us feel low, depleted, disconnected, irritable, angry, nervous, and tense. We often experience headaches, poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, excessive thinking and worrying, negative thoughts, difficulties with relationships, school, work, and leisure. I help people struggle less with difficult feelings, sensations, and urges that can negatively affect relationships and other aspects of life and spend more time and energy living well. Regardless of the challenge or situation, I believe your potential to live well.

Life can be a lot, and we don’t get to skip over the rough parts. It might be an especially stressful time, or old issues and patterns might be holding us back. Sometimes it’s from moving through systems that cause harm. And sometimes we just get tired, and need someone in our corner. It can help to talk to someone who's not directly involved for support, insight, and a safe place to unpack it all. The longer I do this, the more I feel “mental health” isn’t quite the right term… it’s often physical, or spiritual, or cultural. The good news is we can start wherever you are. We can talk, move, go outside, or just feel what’s there.

I am a Clinical Therapist working with families and children, age 5-10. As school begins many issues kids put aside for their summer begin to resurface - peer pressures, bullying, learning issues, and self esteem. Children are often dealing with parental separation, divorce, remarriage and family deaths. Social media is a mixed blessing bringing children into contact with adult worlds - floods, wild fires, rising costs of everyday living; when we adults are concerned, our children are affected. No surprise, they are now experiencing high levels of anxiety, leading to moodiness, defiance, poor sleep and school problems.

Dr. Silverman is currently accepting new patients for all types of psychological assessments. Dr. Silverman’s standard of care when it comes to psychological assessment is to make sure the patient feels empowered and has a robust understanding of their psychological data. He believes it is critical to patient care that everyone understands the control they hold over their lives and how they can use the help provided to make improvements based on their results. While patient history is important, Dr. Silverman relies more on number driven data obtained from internationally accepted norms, i.e.: Continuous Performance Test.

Family separations can be extremely stressful and difficult times for both parents and children, but they DON'T have to involve court battles, high conflict, or huge expenses. If you are dealing with conflict over living arrangements, parenting time, child support, or other parenting concerns, I can help. With the right support, information, and guidance, most families can work through their parenting and support issues together, and come to a practical and sustainable solutions for themselves and their children. I also offer Voice of the Child Reports to families involved in a collaborative law process or other family mediators.

Every one of us can encounter stormy weather as we sail across the ocean of life and feel overwhelmed with uncertainty, anguish, and sorrow. When you connect with me, I am committed to meeting you in the thick of the storm and working alongside you to move towards healing. My approach centers around building a safe compassionate relationship with you first. Within this relationship, we can work with your mind and body, exploring areas like the effects of trauma on our nervous system, how to regulate, and what it takes to live in harmony with your hopes and values. I primarily draw from Narrative Therapy, Somatic approaches, and ACT.

Life can be hard. We all go through times when the daily tasks of living seem overwhelming and the joy we used to feel is gone. Many of us try to tough it out. We put on a good face to the outside world but inside we are in despair. If this sounds like you and you're ready to make a change, therapy can help. I work with adults and older teens who are suffering from a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma and career issues.
