I work with adolescents, young adults, and their families to provide support to address areas of challenge. I collaborate with clients to find the approach that best fits with their needs and goals. This may include addressing unhelpful thinking patterns, developing strategies to cope with intense emotions, improving relationships with family or peers, or problem-solving barriers getting in the way of valued activities.

I am a queer, Indigenous therapist and registered social worker offering online therapy that is queer affirming, anti-racist, sex positive, body neutral, feminist, and trauma informed. I embrace a warm sense of humour that can make therapy less intimidating. I integrate an awareness of mental health, addictions, and harm reduction strategies through lived experience into my practice. I work with youth and adults addressing a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and intergenerational trauma. I am experienced in providing affirming support to those who are exploring gender and/or sexuality.

The many twists and turns of life can be challenging to process and navigate. You may have experienced new or longstanding adversity that can make relationships challenging, cause overwhelming anxiety, or lead you to become withdrawn and depressed. I will collaborate with you to develop a warm, compassionate therapeutic relationship to help you explore how your body and mind respond to the complex emotions that emerge with such life adversity. For most of us, these patterns are automatic, but as you get to know yourself you can uncover new choices and options for meaningful, lasting change.

Life is filled with struggles and challenges and they can seem difficult to overcome or even meet. Counselling helps people recognise the strengths that they already have to not only address life's challenges, but come out the other side stronger.

Feeling seen and heard are important when facing concerns of substance use, worry, anxiety, low motivation or feeling weighed down. Maybe you have a loved one with these struggles and want to build skills to help them. Recovery from mental health concerns looks different for everyone, and however it looks to you, is what I want to help you achieve. I use evidence based interventions and care pathways to guide treatment and achieve desired outcomes.

If you feel sad, stressed, anxious or depressed, no purpose, I can help. I work with clients to achieve inner peace, optimal health, true joy, & lasting success in their personal and professional lives. Most of them feel stressed out, anxious, sad, or can't get stuff done, are close to burnout, and are secretly (or openly) struggling with their own mental and physical health. Some also want to get off some medications and don't know how to do it without having awful withdrawal symptoms. Maybe they are also struggling with memory issues, weight issues, CPTSD, hormonal issues, and other issues affecting their brain and mental health.

What has spared us from pain in the past often keeps us stuck and anxious in the present. Most of us wish to be free of our psychological suffering, but we find ourselves continuing to treat ourselves or others poorly in spite of our best interest to do otherwise. We all need a therapeutic relationship where we can learn to experience our emotions safely, regulate our anxiety, and turn against our defenses. I provide Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a comprehensive form of psychotherapy that helps patients experience their emotions and understand themselves across a broad range of clinical concerns.

Sometimes our problems seem to take on a life of their own; they can drag us down, even paralyzing us under a weight of sadness and worry. Perhaps you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you are struggling to cope. If this sounds like you, we can talk. With years of experience in clinical healthcare and university-counselling settings, I am adept at working with a wide range of mental health and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties. I offer in-office, outdoor, virtual, and phone-based therapy sessions, through Wolf Counselling Therapy (WolfCT.ca).

My intention is that you leave each of our sessions feeling relieved, like you’ve made progress and you know what to do next to make life easier. Together we can build a professional and caring relationship with a treatment plan that reflects your needs. My work is balanced between having effective and rejuvenating conversations and offering practical skills to manage stressors. If you feel your life is overwhelming, or you are struggling to get your needs met, I am confident we can find a way forward. I hope to collaborate with you to create a vision for your life where you have a more relaxed and joyful experience.

My ideal client is open to the idea of therapy, but might need a patient and welcoming therapist to help them open up. They are looking for a therapist that feels like an old friend, someone they can say anything to. They might be looking to improve relationships in their life, build confidence and self-worth, or shift some long-standing habits. Maybe they are going through a transition or a loss and need support through the changes. I am particularly passionate about supporting teenagers, parents, elders, folks dealing with body image issues, and couples.

Gender-based violence, restorative approaches and narrative therapy have led me to work internationally. Locally, I have spent 25 years working for a trauma-informed community-based organization and for the past fifteen I have also worked for the Canadian Armed Forces. Currently I continue to speak publicly and train others about domestic violence. I co-founded the Canadian Domestic Violence Conference when I saw a need to bring more light to the subject. I am available to help couples work through the damages caused by domestic violence as well as to help individuals repair the harm done to them so they can move forward.
