She was a dentist with a development neuroscience background and expertise in chronic pain and sleep issues until she was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition and retired from the more literally gory side of treating pain and trauma.
For many years, the people who have ended up in Noelle's care are folks who have been harmed by the healthcare and educational systems. Invalidation, medical gaslighting, lack of services, long wait times, it can all add up to a pretty brutal experience where you are left feeling like no one understands or cares. Life can be a jerk to those of us who feel "different" due to pain, health issues, neurodivergence, etc. If this has been your experience, you need the right kind of support.

I also assist individuals in coping and learning to live with chronic pain utilizing an educational and strength based approach.
I work from a person-centered lens, focusing on building a strong therapeutic alliance and offering an empathetic ear; pointing out where you may not be living congruently between who you are and who you want to be, gently encouraging change or self acceptance. With me you will find a therapist whose style is gently challenging, balanced with a sense of humor, patience, and non-judgmental understanding.

My hope is that you can be free from your pain so you can let go of the patterns that no longer serve you and have a deeper level of self-understanding, healing and authenticity.
Asking for help can be one of the hardest things to do - I’m glad you are making that first step! My therapy room is a safe and accepting space where there is no agenda to change or "cure" you. It is to see you, as you are. My goal is that you feel seen and understood. Many clients come to me describing themselves as depressed, overwhelmed, stressed, stuck or anxious. Most are surprised that I don't try to ’get rid' of these symptoms, but that every part is welcome and has an important story to share. Through mindfulness we bring awareness to these feelings, to understand and embrace them to enable healing at a deeper level.

Have you ever driven home from work and ended up in the drive way with no idea how you got there? Thinking the same thoughts over and over and not been able to get to sleep? Reacted by saying things you wish you hadn’t? Yep, we’ve all been there. Through learning evidence-based mindfulness exercises, my clients learn how to re-wire their brains, change their inner dialogue, and create more space in their lives. Mindfulness training can be therapeutic, however it differs from therapy; we learn how to let go of our usual thinking, story-telling, and analyzing modes by exploring what is actually here right now.

The changes we go through in life can leave us questioning our ability to cope, who we are, what we want, and how we can move forward. Navigating transition is easier said than done, but with the right support, it's possible.

Life can quickly become so busy that everyday interactions become overwhelming obstacles, impacting your life in ways you may not even realize. I work to create a safe, non judgemental space where you can explore these issues and more, while learning how changes to your thoughts, actions, and feelings, can have a significant impact on your wellbeing. I also support your ability to tune into the present, exploring your felt senses as messages that your body is communicating to you. In this way, you regain control over things that could otherwise feel impossible.

How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.
What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophising, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.
Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.
How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
