Are you struggling in this crazy world? Do you feel anxious, sad, frustrated, angry, overwhelmed, and/or tired of it all? Do you feel lost and alone, that no one understands you, that you are fighting your struggles alone? Is it difficult to muster the motivation and energy to do things that you once enjoyed? Are you constantly embroiled in conflict with others? Do you wish things were better, that you felt better, that the pain, sadness, and conflict would go away and be replaced with happiness, peace, contentment, and joy?

There are so many experiences in life that can make us lose touch with ourselves. You may feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you’re unable to relax or let go. If you've had to be the one keeping it together and supporting other people, you may be here because you feel like you're just treading water with no direction or sense of safety. Therapy can be a place for you to finally let those walls down, let go of the burden to be "the strong one" and reconnect with yourself.

Everyone needs additional support at times. Life can become tangled with mixed emotions and underlying thoughts or beliefs. There may be unexpected obstacles, challenges and changes in your life causing you to feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed, or you may not identify with how you are feeling, but you have noticed that your mood and behaviours have changed. You may not be aware of the physical and/or social impact this may be having on your life. Together we can identify your inner strengths and develop additional strategies and tools to not only help you cope, but to support you and help you grow.

Deanne has a special interest in helping individuals and their families learn how to embrace ADHD, develop strategies and build skills that can help individuals feel success, change how they think and feel about themselves and improve their daily functioning at home, school/work and navigate relationships.
Deanne has a warm and practical approach. She likes the idea of 'holding space' for individuals where they can safely explore in order to learn more about themselves, develop skills that will help them "lean into" difficult emotions, build resilience and challenge old and gain new perspectives.

As a Child Therapist, I appreciate the resiliency within each child, teen, and young adult I work with. They have many of the qualities to cope with day-to-day life and stressors.. it's my role to help identify, celebrate, and strengthen the ones they have and introduce new ones that could help. Whether the goal is to help youth with ADHD (or ADHD characteristics), anxiety, emotional regulation, or trauma, I can help both young people and their families navigate their unique pathways to wellbeing and good mental health. Step by step along your own path, I'll walk with you while you need some extra support.

Hello ! I’m Hannah Sparkes with Spark Your Growth. Seeking support can be hard so I appreciate you taking time to view my profile and see if I am a suitable fit for you! I work with clients to help heal trauma, develop self-confidence, cope with life’s stressors, build stronger relationships, regulate anxiety and stress, overcome addiction and achieve a life you want to live, amongst other things. Your days can be filled with so many ups and downs as you walk this journey called life. It can leave you with high anxiety levels and/or low moods and depression. You maybe struggling at work, in your marriage, relationships, or as a parent. One thing is for certain: You are hardwired for authentic and meaningful connections. The gift of therapy is not only an act of self love, it's a granting permission to be authentically you and get those anxiety and depression levels back in equilibrium. It all starts with you and I building a therapeutic, meaningful connection.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
