Hi, I'm Nicola. I am an intern counsellor, working under supervision, at Evergreen Counselling Group. I know that reaching out for help can be hard but I truly believe that everyone needs help with their mental health at one point in their life. Asking for help is the first step in the journey towards healing. I have 10 years of experience supporting people with their mental health when they are in crisis.I am drawn to working as a counsellor as I love hearing people’s stories and helping to bring about change. I see you as the expert in your own life with all the history, experience and perspectives that entails.
As an immigrant, from Scotland, I understand the challenges of adjusting to a new country. I am a married mum of three and enjoy working with parents and the challenges that parenthood brings. I also work with couples at all stages of the relationship – relationships are not easy and couples counselling can help bring clarity and increase connection.
My priority is to provide a safe, empathic, inclusive and non-judgemental environment. I take a client centred, strengths-based approach and draw from several modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy, existential therapy and solution focused therapy. I have additional training in Gottman couples therapy.
