I offer compassionate, evidenced-based support for children ages 3 – 10 and the people who care for them. My primary therapeutic approach is child-centered play therapy, which allows children to express themselves through play and toys. When I facilitate play therapy, I provide an environment where children experience safety and learn to feel self-confident, limit their problem behaviours, and grow towards self improvement. I have completed specialized training in play and expressive arts therapy through The Justice Institute of BC, and The Centre for Play Therapy at The University of Northern Texas.
Play therapy is a developmentally responsive, play-based mental health intervention. It allows children to express themselves clearly and learn coping skills to handle difficult emotions and experiences. Play therapy supports children’s emotional and behavioural regulation.
Play Therapy also includes parent sessions where I focus on exploring new skills to facilitate change. I foster a therapeutic relationship with parents, in which they feel accepted, understood, and safe. All of our consultations are initiated to facilitate growth in your child and enhance the parent/child relationship.
