As a registered drama therapist I combine creative interventions and verbal processing to help individuals process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, develop coping skills and rehearse for life. Using a client-centred approach, I meet the person where they are, discover their strengths, and facilitate their growth and development. I also help clients foster creativity in their daily lives to encourage wellness. I have experience working with queer and trans folks, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, substance users, those experiencing grief or feeling lost and people having trouble regulating mood, behaviour, and anxiety.
No theatrical experience is necessary to benefit from drama therapy. I use techniques and activities to help clients externalize their problems creatively using props, storytelling, drawing, collage, metaphor, role-play, and improvisation. The amount of verbal exchange varies depending on the needs, wants and comfort levels of the client.
My approach to well-being is based on a connection of the mind, body, and soul.
