I am Marriage and Family Therapist and Social worker specialized in working with couples and individuals struggling with relationships.
Are you feeling disconnected from your partner? Feeling they do not understand you? Not enjoying your time together? You were likely close to your partner during the early years of your relationship, but as stressors of family, finances or work have come up, your connection has changed. You have tried to resolve matters, but feeling stuck. Just like when you take your car to a mechanic for repairs, couples therapy can be helpful in repairing your relationship. It can be difficult to ask for help, but when your relationship is not working, it can impact many aspects of your life.

Do you feel like the waves of life have been washing over you, like nothing makes sense, and you can't tell which way is solid ground? Perhaps your relationship or marriage seems to bring more stress and tension than the peace and joy it once did? Or work that brought you joy only brings you dread? Perhaps you've lost a loved one and cannot imagine life without them? If any of these resonate with you then I would like to work with you to take the next step.

I work with clients aged 13+ and couples, in navigating a diverse range of issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, trauma, familial conflicts, marital challenges, and life changes.
Accepting Clients! Virtual Only- Many find it challenging to confront their past trauma due to feelings of fear or shame, often viewing these memories as a “black box” they’re reluctant to open. My approach is to validate these fears and build a strong relationship grounded in trust and safety. By creating a supportive environment where you won’t be pressured to explore areas you're not ready to face, you’ll feel more comfortable and understood. As you gradually open up about your past at your own pace, you'll be able to connect how these experiences impact your current situation, paving the way for healing and personal growth.

Are you struggling with re-living experiences from your past? The version of yourself just out of reach and held back by rumination, self-doubt, depression and/or fear? Struggle handling stress or knowing who you are? Wounded and shackled by the daily slog of modern-day living. Or are you in a relationship where arguments are frequent or withdrawal is commonplace? Where the primary issue seems to fall on 'poor communication' and you find yourself questioning what got you together, to begin with? Marriage, partnerships and relationships should be a place you find comfort and solace in, not abandonment, rejection and fear.

Marriage Counselling

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
