Do you have thoughts that scare you or make you feel ashamed? Do you wonder why you're having them and what they mean? Does it feel wrong/irresponsible/risky/dangerous to ignore the thoughts? You try to solve, figure out, and get rid of the thoughts quickly. You argue with the thoughts, but your mind argues back. You spend so much time distracting yourself and avoiding anyone or anything that triggers them. You’d give anything for the horrible thoughts/feelings to stop, but no matter what you do they keep coming back. You just want to feel better and live a normal life. If this sounds like you, I might be a great therapist for you.
I have extensive experience utilizing CBT, ERP, and ACT to help clients with OCD and anxiety disorders. Most of my clients are experiencing OCD with “taboo” obsessional content including sexual/harm/scrupulosity symptoms as well as with several lesser-known themes. I have worked with many clients who have believed that their particular theme is untreatable.
I am enthusiastic and I often use humour in my work, as OCD is serious enough! Treatment with me is personalized, collaborative, informative, and evidence-based. I work well with clients who are engaged in session, take an active approach to their learning, and who are eager to put in the hard work necessary to get freedom from OCD and find peace again.
