Grounded in an integrative approach, I draw from Narrative Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and person-centered, psychodynamic, and humanistic perspectives.
Genuine hardships exist, and there are reasons to feel defeated. However, amidst this, there is also good. Whether you are grappling with challenging thoughts, feelings, transitions, relationship challenges, or simply need someone to talk to, I am here to offer support and understanding. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and MA in Counselling Psychology student under clinical supervision, my aim is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where we can foster alignment with your values, needs, and goals; exploring your story at a pace that feels right for you.

I integrate EMDR, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and self-compassion techniques.
Navigating life's challenges can often feel overwhelming, leaving us struggling with anxiety, grief, and self-criticism. I believe that cultivating self-awareness, understanding how we hold meaning to our own experiences, and reconnecting with our inner strengths are key to overcoming these obstacles. Our emotions can teach us valuable lessons about unmet needs, and I aim to help you mindfully recognize these feelings and develop ways to meet your needs effectively.

My practice is trauma-informed and includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy.
If you’re considering therapy it might feel like you have to have all the answers before you start, but your desire for change is enough. As a queer therapist, I'm dedicated to serving our 2SLGBTQ+ communities. I also have a passion for supporting healthcare providers, high-performance athletes, and members of the Muslim community. Therapy is a powerful tool that can help you navigate life's challenges. By exploring the interplay of comfort and discomfort, we create a space for transformation. Together, we'll work on amplifying your strengths, deepening your self-awareness, and challenging perspectives that may be holding you back.

My approach is client-centred, and I draw on a broad range of methods including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
I provide individual therapy to those who are experiencing issues related to anxiety, self-esteem, depression, OCD, and managing challenging emotions. My role as a therapist is to offer a safe space to help you gain insight into the underlying causes of your challenges, and to learn helpful coping strategies in order to create the meaningful changes that you wish to see. I work well with individuals who wish to cope with anxiety and self-esteem issues by learning to manage their negative self-talk and build self-compassion. I believe we are all capable and deserving of the personal growth and transformation that comes from therapy.

I foster a safe refuge where you can begin to unpack your lived experiences free from judgment. While honouring your story, I offer support in exploring what is working and what is deterring you from where you would like to be. In doing so, pathways can be created to explore healthier ways to cope, live a more meaningful and authentic life, gain greater insight, and communicate your needs and boundaries with others. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed/focused, anti-oppressive, strengths-based and draws from intersectional feminist theory. I integrate mindfulness, CBT, narrative therapy, neuroscience, and mind/body approaches.

I use a variety of modalities backed by research such as ACT, attachment and trauma-informed work, CBT, DBT, EFT, Narrative, and somatic (body-based) interventions.
Many folks come to me feeling overwhelmed, confused, or disconnected from their emotions or behaviours. They find themselves feeling triggered in relationships, or shy away from sharing their authentic selves with others. Some have significant struggles with their focus and can't consistently complete tasks they know are well within their abilities. When we don't know how or why this happens, a sense of powerlessness and shame creeps into our lives. Trust me, I understand confronting these issues is challenging and vulnerable. Changing these patterns is very possible and may be some of the most important work you do in your life.

As a Narrative therapist, empower individuals to find new ways of coping.
Are you someone that identifies as LGBTQ+, seeking an outlet to express one’s worries? Are you a racialized person struggling to find someone you can speak to about life challenges? Have you reached a roadblock in your communication with a romantic partner? LGBTQ+ and racialized folks are often limited in spaces that allow them to feel fully seen. With couples, there are often difficulties figuring out where to start in managing conflict. Through a collaborative therapeutic stance, I am to challenge such difficult realities by supporting clients to fulfill their desired goals.

While I can and do offer a range of therapeutic treatments, my preference is Narrative (Talk) Therapy through a Solutions Focused lens within the realm of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
When you just need to talk … and have someone LISTEN to you. Someone who will HELP you work through your concern(s) instead of only TELLING you what to do. I can be that someone if you let me.

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds — perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
