The therapeutic encounter fosters acceptance of what has, or has not happened to you in your life. It's a transformative experience that allows you to know yourself profoundly and helps you move forward in your life. I offer two styles of therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Both modalities emphasize identifying and working through your internal conflicts and puzzling self-sabotaging behaviours. Using dreams, free association and our experience of the "here and now" of our relationship, we work together to address what prompted you to seek help.
Psychoanalysis is a unique treatment experience that is more intensive in that we meet four times per week. The additional time allows you to fully explore what drives your behavior or “how you got here” and help uncover the unconscious wishes, fears, patterns and dilemmas that keep you feeling stuck in your life.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy occurs less frequently, and can occur weekly, twice weekly and biweekly. Early in our work, we establish a regular meeting schedule to build trust, gain traction and stay focused on the issues you’re seeking to work through. I offer in-person and web sessions.
