In my 40 year career as a clinical social worker, I have gained extensive experience in developing, effecting, and managing therapeutic approaches for individuals and families who bear the damage of sexual abuse. I am prepared to offer help for many problem areas but I give special emphasis to male and female adults and youth who have committed, or are at risk of committing, or have been the victim of problematic sexual behaviour, This includes clients with special needs such as intellectual disability. I also support families with safety planning for child protection cases or with family resolution/reintegration.
As a specialist, I must make accurate and thorough assessments. I am qualified as an expert witness in Court for my psychosexual and risk assessments in criminal or child welfare cases. My clients also benefit from my female co-therapists who assist when appropriate. We help empower persons to cope with difficulties, to heal, and to prevent further harm.
I relate to my clients as whole persons--it is when we form trusting, respectful relationships that the goals of therapy are best achieved. So many of my clients come through the door in emotional disarray and in crisis. I feel privileged to share a path that leads to those same clients making positive and sustained changes in their lives, free of abuse.
