Hello and a warm welcome! Thank you for stopping by. With over ten year of experience working in the community as a social worker, I am excited for you to learn more about me and my approach to counselling as you consider beginning therapy with me. My early career focused on harm reduction and supporting people struggling with substance use challenges. From there, I began working with people experiencing eating disorders and concentrated on becoming trained in evidence based approaches; more specifically, family-based treatment (FBT) and cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E).
My work in both substance use and eating disorders led me to seek out specialization in supporting people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). In addition to my clinical work, I have personal lived experience with mental health challenges and identify as a queer, neurodivergent single mom.
This gives me a nuanced understanding of the barriers people often experience navigating the mental health system. These experiences have further developed my empathy, non-judgmental demeanor, and passion for advocacy. Choosing to engage in therapy with me means I will endeavour to provide evidence-based treatment and a collaborative plan to met your needs.
