I believe we contain multitudes within us, and many parts that make up who we are. Sometimes though, experiences in our lives make us close off from, hide, squish, contort and/or cut off from parts of who we are, especially those that do not fit the normative ideas of how we are “supposed” to be in our society, including around race, gender, gender expression, sexuality, class, neurotype, body size, nationality, relationship-structures, disability and more. I’m a Registered Social Worker, and I provide counselling from trauma-informed, collaborative, and anti-oppressive approaches.
I primarily work with folks in LGBTQIA2S+ communities, people who are neurodivergent, and people have experienced trauma, including sexual assault, abuse, death, and experiences of ongoing oppression. My approach to counselling is conversation based, including relating to emotions, and we can also bring awareness to and connection with the body.
Together in counselling we can create curious and compassionate spaces to welcome and befriend all parts of who you are. When we do this, we can relate with ourselves with more compassion, nurturance, and understanding, and offer ourselves and all our parts opportunities for healing, transformation and belonging.
