Almost everyone will experience grief and loss in their lifetime and while there are no absolute stages of grief and no single way to mourn, every person has a unique experience and response to their loss. We experience loss in many ways – through sudden, unexpected death, miscarriage, infant loss, job loss, the ending of a relationship or through chronic illness, aging, life transitions, end of life planning and anticipating the death of a loved one.
Are you experiencing sadness, anger, disbelief, guilt, relief, loneliness, anxiety, depression, intense emotions, sleep disturbances, lack of concentration, and questions about spirituality as part of your grief? As part of our grief work, we will work together to talk about your grief, and find solutions that will help you to make meaning from your loss.
In a short-time (6-12 weeks) clients are usually able to learn some coping strategies and begin to move forward from their loss. I practice from a Solution-Focused, Grief and Trauma Focussed perspective with formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focussed CBT and Complicated Grief.
