Equine Solace is dedicated to support the emotional health and well being of persons dealing with trauma, PTSD, abuse and/or loss. As a retired police officer, I have witnessed the trauma and grief associated with life on the front lines. These experiences led me to seek new and innovative ways to support people dealing with trauma and PTSD. I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with NSCCT (RCT-C18-015), supervised by Brenda Johnson (RCT 15-002), a certified Mental Health Professional with PRO-EFW (260) and Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) ( 10005030).
My programs are designed to help first responders, survivors of sexual abuse, veterans, at-risk youth and others dealing with trauma, PTSD, abuse and/or loss. Equine guided sessions may include activities such as grooming, simple leading exercises, present moment and body awareness activities. Ground work only. There is no riding.
In 2016, I discovered the healing potential of Equine-Assisted Therapy. I became a certified Mental Health Professional with Professional Equine Facilitated Wellness (PRO-EFW). Through this training, and in partnership with my herd of therapy horses, I have learned to create a safe space for clients to find connection, develop insights and begin to heal.
