The thought of reaching out can be scary for some, but feeling stuck and overwhelmed, or not able to manage your feelings in a healthy way, can be even more scary. Therapy is an opportunity to connect in a safe, non-judgemental environment to explore your thoughts, behavioural patterns, and relationships that may be negatively impacting your life. Engaging in therapy can provide an opportunity to develop the skills needed to manage your complicated feelings and challenging relationships.
I do enjoy an eclectic approach to therapy with a healthy dose of humour, however, I also value the need for best practice modalities and have been formally trained in: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness practices, and EMDR.
A concept in DBT states that " we are all doing the best we can and need to do better". To me this means we are doing our best with the skills and knowledge we have, and we should challenge ourselves to keep learning and growing. Although I may be somewhat biased, I believe therapy can provide that opportunity, and I look forward to working with you.
