My specific area of clinical practice is in Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). The difficult thing about CEN is that its impacts upon people’s lives are often hard to identify. Many people grow up with their external needs (e.g. for food, shelter, clothing, etc.) met adequately or even met well, but in an environment where their emotional needs were ignored, unrecognized, under-recognized or discouraged. You may have grown up telling yourself that you had a fine or even great childhood, and this can make it incredibly difficult to pinpoint why you feel empty, insecure, depressed, or set apart from other people.
I have an eclectic background in writing, teaching, and mental health counselling. I would love to work with you in respectful, collaborative, and deeply connected ways to help you understand yourself and your experiences.
Whether you suspect that you are impacted by childhood emotional neglect, or you are living with depression and anxiety, the pain of trauma, difficulties related to ADHD, or parenting challenges, I assure you that I am ready to support you. Things can and will get better!
