I provide therapy for adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, caregiver issues, attachment issues, low self-esteem, stress management, relationship issues, career issues, personal growth, and adjustment to life transitions. I have a special interest in working with individuals in mid-life and beyond, who are coping with change in their lives. Another interest of mine is the field of Positive Psychology and how this approach can help people develop their strengths and improve their emotional well-being.
I believe that empathic understanding is essential in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and supporting change and growth. My approach is primarily Humanistic-Existential, and I also use Cognitive-Behavioural and Gestalt strategies when they may be helpful for clients in resolving emotional distress.
After receiving my PhD from University of British Columbia, I worked in Vancouver and Toronto before returning to Halifax. Prior to entering fulltime private practice, I worked in a mental health clinic and I also taught in a university graduate counselling program. I have been a Registered Psychologist for over 30 years.
