My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, and addiction.
My approach to therapy is person centered ( you lead the way) and non-directive ( I am not the expert of your life, you are!) I work with teens, adults and couples. My goal is to grab my therapeutic tool box and a flashlight and meet you exactly where you are at so we can find the way out of the darkness together. I am trained in EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and have found it to be a very effective therapy for a variety of mental health issues including PTSD and CPTSD.

The impact of trauma on a person's suffering and how they cope can manifest in many negative ways. Anxiety, depression, loss of self-worth, hopelessness and an inability to care for oneself emotionally and psychologically are common issues. A person may be easily triggered, become more reactive, or shut down completely. This in turn can impact their personal and professional relationships. To pursue a life of calmness requires all our inner strength, our courage, commitment to self and the spirit of championing change.

I've completed SE's Masterclass Level 1, Eye of the Needle, which works with and supports near- death experiences or paralytic/anesthesia states.
Bodies and minds are fascinating phenomena. They are a record of the past, exist in the present, and imagine the future. You envision the ideal version of yourself and have experimented with many ways to get there. Getting to know your particulars, like your habits, beliefs, conditioning, preferences, emotions, traumas, blockages, muscle tension patterns, spirals, and energy pathways can assist you in solidifying what it is that you do and do not want and aid in your evolution. MME Therapy focuses initially on creating safety in the body and then allows for time and space for you to practice embodying who it is you want to be.

There is no one size fits all approach to grief.
Your grief is welcome here. Death of Spouse. Family Member Loss. Anticipatory Loss. Traumatic Loss. Complicated Grief. Divorce. You may feel lost and alone right now. Your world is shattered. Grief is lonely, intense, and scary. I can help you expand your capacity to hold this sorrow and regain your balance. You can move forward from simply surviving to thriving. I will remind you of your strengths, as you find meaning and your true identity. You already know your life will never be the same because of this loss. Yet, you can gather the pieces to carry your loss forward with love and peace.

As an intern Christian counsellor pursuing a Master's degree, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and discover their true selves. Life, at times, throws us curve balls that can cripple us in ways such as crises, interpersonal conflicts, and marriage problems that can make us feel lonely and grief-stricken. This holds us back from moving forward in fulfilling our purpose and exploring gifts and talents that can get us weary in reaching our goals.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
