I offer online therapy to women going through breast cancer, and to folks who experience anxiety, grief and loss, and depression. If you are a woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, or you have finished treatment and looking for support, you may feel alone, overwhelmed and scared. You don't have to navigate this journey on your own. If you are a person who is experiencing social anxiety, grief and loss, or depression, you may feel terrified, hopeless, and stuck. You don't have to navigate this experience on your own.

Welcome clients! In person appointments Friday AM. EMDR can help you re-process traumatic memories so they aren’t disturbing anymore. Talk therapy can help you learn new ways to understand your feelings. I work with those who have experienced trauma to help them heal and gain a better understanding of how to move forward. I now offer I-CBT to help treat OCD. This is an upstream treatment that targets the obsessional doubt(s) underlying the compulsive behaviour(s). I can help you regain your confidence, re-establish connections with yourself and others, and rebuild your sense of safety.

Hello! My name is Michelle, I am bilingual French/English, and I'm currently accepting only online clients from Ontario. I enjoy working through an integrative lens to help clients discover and/or expand their inner desires and goals to help them grow into alignment with their internal values. This means that, through collaboration, we can build a treatment plan that fits you. Reaching out to a therapist can be one of the biggest hurdles to seeking help. You may be feeling overwhelmed with the idea of making the first move. You've searched for help, and I've appeared in your results, but how can you know I'm the right fit for you?

I have been providing collaborative mental health and addiction services for youth, adolescents and adults in the Ottawa Region for the past 18 years. I work closely with individuals and families to identify the best treatment plans to meet their unique needs. Some techniques I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, Mindfulness Integrated CBT, Trauma Practice and Addiction Issues. I use an assertive care approach which can provide some support between sessions, as needed, for clients to meet their goals with non-life-threatening mental health challenges. Many clients have found this very helpful.

Hello folks. I understand how daunting it can feel when you are seeking out support, and I am glad that you have arrived here today. I believe that everyone needs an ear or a caring safe space sometimes. Are you noticing life is not as satisfying, feeling in a rut in your career... relationship... or just life in general? Feeling like maybe a change? Considered couples counseling? If you have answered yes to any of the above it might be time for action!

As human beings, we encounter many difficult and challenging times in our lives. Taking that very first step into seeking help and healing is by far the hardest to do, however, it also suggests that you may be ready to do the necessary work. It is amazing to witness the ability of individuals to make big or small changes in their lives, all while exploring parts of themselves that they may not have known existed. Hence, I would be honored to be part of this journey and appreciative of each step taken to achieve your goals all while helping you live a better life.

Sometimes we find ourselves entangled in threads of emotions. Whether its grief, anger, unspoken guilt, or unexplained fear. We find ourselves stuck in relationships that are no longer serving our wellbeing. We get lost with no visible exit. And at times, the shadows of our past traumas loom large, casting over our present, shaping the way we feel, act, and relate to the world.

The clients I enjoy working with want to make changes in their lives and are looking forward to a better quality of life. They reached a point where they realize that what they've been doing hasn't worked and realize they need something more and are eager to get started on a new direction in life.

Understanding that each client brings their own unique story, struggles, and aspirations, I aim to meet you where you are. Your journey may involve navigating the complexities of family dynamics, coping with the physical and emotional changes brought on by perimenopause and menopause, grappling with the impacts of trauma, facing the challenges of addiction, or untangling the intricacies of relationship issues. These situations can often lead to feelings of isolation, overwhelm, and a yearning for a path towards healing and understanding.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
