My approach included a mix of mindfulness-based techniques and research backed tools like CBT, EMDR, and more, all within a supportive, judgement-free environment.
Feeling stuck or like something is missing in your life? You're not alone. Many of the people who reach out to me feel lost or like they're at a crossroads. Or they want to make big changes but don't know where to start. Often, they've been struggling for a long time. Stuck in the same painful cycles. Thinking about getting help, but putting it off for one reason or another. Whatever the case, they're united by something important: a desire to get back to themselves and to actually enjoying life, rather than just going through the motions. And that desire for wholeness is precisely where their healing work can begin.

I use EMDR, Couple's, and Nature therapy to clear away a history of negativity so you feel light and hopeful.
Getting to the point where you feel like you need therapy can feel awful. You have probably tried many ways of getting better and they haven't worked for you or not well enough. Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed, confused, powerless and disconnected from yourself and others? You don't need to feel like you aren't good enough. You don't need to feel stuck in anger, sadness, fear or disgust. You don't need to feel like your past is heavy and weighing you down in the present. You can process your past so you can live in the present moment. You can feel good about yourself and connect to others. You deserve joy now and in the future.

I use a trauma-informed approach that integrates EMDR, which is recognized as a leading trauma-resolution treatment.
If you have had traumatic or painful events, or if you are in toxic relationships, keep reading because I may be able to help you. On a warm Tuesday morning in September, my mother died after a period of great suffering. I could not imagine my life without her, and I did not have any idea how my life was going to continue. Her doctor encouraged me to see my mother’s death as though it had brought her freedom. Freedom was a concept that I had never known before; sadness and pain were what I knew. On that day, I started my search of freedom until I found it years later.

I also specialize in treating Trauma/PTSD, using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and various trauma-informed techniques.
Life presents us with challenges that can interfere with health and wholeness. We each have the ability to approach and integrate these challenges, yet it is easier with support. I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years, and so far have come to appreciate the work I do, as I learn from my clients' resilience and inner strength to overcome the challenges and issues that come across their path. I work with individuals seeking support with anxiety, depression, stress/trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions grief and loss. Together we will nurture resiliency, empowerment, wholeness, and well-being.

Specifically for trauma, Sara uses EMDR, a science-based approach that allows for the reprocessing and resolution of past pain.
Often described as having a calm presence, Sara Jungen is a Registered Psychologist who is passionate about supporting individuals to live in the present, unburdened by the past. Sara completed her B.A. (honours) in Psychology at the University of Calgary, and after some time doing therapeutic work both locally and internationally, it became clear that in order to be of most benefit to others, she needed to further her training and delve deeper into her own process.

I offer EMDR, ART and talk therapy to individuals with a focus on daily stress, trauma treatment, parenting challenges and First Responder experiences.
Are you struggling with personal or career demands, persistent negative belief systems or trauma (past or present)? The professions, pressures and adversity we all face are unique, but the common mental load of 'trying to do it all' crosses all demographics and employment sectors. Individual well-being, relationships, parenting, family dynamics and careers place intersecting demands that inevitably lead to overwhelm and burnout. Addressing underlying trauma themes and negative beliefs, while pragmatically navigating our numerous responsibilities will lead to a more peaceful and successful experience, personally or professionally.

I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW), and an EMDR trained clinician with advanced training and consultation in Natural Processing: a process oriented, somatic therapy.
People seek out therapeutic support for a lot of different reasons, and over the past 15 years I’ve worked in a lot of different areas including addiction and mental health, illness adjustment, life transitions, and family systems under stress. More recently, I’ve developed practice interests in supporting recovery from relational trauma, including the fallout from unmet childhood needs, antagonistic relationships, narcissistic abuse, toxic workplaces, bullying, betrayal, etc.

Looking for Change, perhaps I can help. Perhaps you are a highly motivated athlete looking for an edge; improving, enhancing and strengthening your mental health. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety and depressive symptoms, sleep issues, grief, or at a spiritual intersection trying to understand your purpose in life. If you are feeling you are not functioning well or lower than what you feel is your optimal self, or to a degree that is interfering with your functioning at work or in your relationships, maybe I can help.

I utilize various modalities based on a person’s need such as; EMDR, CBT, DBT, Solution Focused and Body Focused Expressive Art Therapy.
Hello, and welcome! There are times in life when we feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost, confused with little to no sense of direction. To experience joy, connection and that feeling of being content, it is necessary to process whatever is going on and explore those parts of us that feel stuck. Whatever change you are needing and wanting to make, it can all be facilitated in a warm, safe and comfortable environment. I am committed to the journey of your wellbeing as I am to my own and together, we can explore and process whatever emotions, thoughts or/and behaviours that might be getting in the way of your optimal wellbeing.

In addition, I am trained in EMDR, and Gottman Method (couples therapy).
I strive to meet my clients where they are at, and to help them achieve the changes they seek. I believe that under the right circumstances, clients have the capacity to look inward, to free themselves from feeling stuck in the past, and to find new ways to move forward. This often requires hard work, but growth and change are possible when clients are given a safe space to explore unhelpful patterns of thinking and learn to think and behave in healthier ways. By clarifying their personal meaning, clients can be empowered to choose new directions in life.

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
