I am a Clinical Therapist working with families and children, age 5-10. As school begins many issues kids put aside for their summer begin to resurface - peer pressures, bullying, learning issues, and self esteem. Children are often dealing with parental separation, divorce, remarriage and family deaths. Social media is a mixed blessing bringing children into contact with adult worlds - floods, wild fires, rising costs of everyday living; when we adults are concerned, our children are affected. No surprise, they are now experiencing high levels of anxiety, leading to moodiness, defiance, poor sleep and school problems.
I work with both children and families. I help kids understand that while they have problems, they are not the problem. We work together and, through art and play, children understand problems can be conquered using their strengths. I help families do this by teaching skills we can practice together. This increases confidence so everyone moves ahead.
You will meet me in a country home office where art supplies, games and a large soft kangaroo are prominent. Many years of experience have turned my hair white: children often find that comforting.
