Counselling can help you to develop a different relationship with the “chatter” in your head that tells you that you ”aren’t good enough” and that keeps you from daring greatly. It can help you to look at the stories in your life that counter your shame—and give them a voice. It can help you to acknowledge and accept loss in a compassionate manner as you would want for a friend. It can help you to recognize your relationship with your mental health and how you interact with it. It allows you to sort through your values and support you living in a way that aligns with what you want. Counselling looks to support these and more.
For over 20 years I have practiced social work; partnering with individuals and families experiencing complex situations and struggles. I draw on multiple modalities to provide a different lens to explore these concerns in a safe and non-judgemental way. Individuals are experts in their lived experiences and I aim to partner in collaboration and respect.
“Fit” can often be a concern when seeking a therapist. Research tells us that the therapeutic relationship is the single greatest predictor for positive outcomes within counselling. Having the opportunity to “interview” your counsellor can support this. I welcome the opportunity for you to connect with me to ask a few questions prior to us committing.
