My primary clinical focus is posttraumatic stress. I have approximately 15 years experience providing evidence-based cognitive-behavioural treatments (e.g., PE, CPT) to Veterans, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, police, firefighters, EMS professionals, and others struggling to cope with traumatic events like assaults or accidents. I also work extensively with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and a range of anxiety problems such as panic, generalized anxiety & worry, social anxiety, and specific phobias. Other problems I treat include insomnia, depression, and body-focussed repetitive behaviours (e.g., trichotillomania).

I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from McGill University and licensure as a Psychologist in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. I am certified as a Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapist, Supervisor, and Trainer by The Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, where I also completed training in EX/RP for OCD.

PTSD is a treatable problem. It is normal to experience symptoms such as nightmares, insomnia, and edginess after a trauma. For many people, these symptoms gradually subside with time. For those who experience lasting problems, there are multiple psychotherapies with strong scientific evidence of effectiveness in a relatively short period of time.
