My name is Cristobal (Cris) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), offering online services in English and Spanish for adults. I have 18 years of counselling experience in a Toronto hospital setting, with a specialty in substance use and trauma. My typical client is usually seeking support with issues like anxiety, self-esteem, drugs and alcohol, trust of self and others, self-criticism, and difficulty managing emotions and relationships. I run my own private practice, called Build Me Up Therapy Service, and my guiding philosophy is to build up the client's skills, self-understanding, and confidence in themselves.
My therapy style combines elements of CBT, DBT, mindful self-compassion, narrative therapy and polyvagal theory, within a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. I help my clients learn how to process and express their thoughts and emotions while understanding how their past experiences may be impacting their current dilemmas.

Join the sign-up list for my Substance Use Recovery Group. This 90-minute group involves a short "check-in" followed by skills-building topics tailored to the group members. The group teaches you how to process and share your emotions and thoughts related to your substance use, with new skills and strategies discussed each week.
