We are each on a journey in search of safety, meaning, and fulfillment. Along the way we are constantly exposed to images and ideals of how we are supposed to look, how we are supposed to feel, and how we are supposed to behave. We start to doubt our uniqueness or our worth. I aim to create safe spaces to talk about things that might seem too personal, taboo, shameful, trivial, or embarrassing to share with others in your life. Together we can examine limiting beliefs about yourself, old stories of who you are and how you "should" be in the world, so you can start to live by choice, not by chance.
Counselling is a collaborative process, my approach to change is relational and takes into account the holistic aspects of well-being. In practice, I draw from attachment theory, mindfulness, intuitive eating principals, and cognitive behaviour therapy. I adopt an LGBTQ2S+ affirming, kink-friendly environment that is free from diet-talk or weight stigma.
There are so many messages today about how we "should" show up in the world, which are often internalized. It takes a great deal of courage to unpack these messages and choose what to keep and what to throw away. I create a safe, supportive space for clients to begin this personal journey.
