I am a person-centered, trauma-informed counsellor who works with clients seeking help with issues related to trauma, grief, loss, low self-worth, self-confidence, & motivation, relationships, distress, anxiety, depression, and nervous system regulation. I help my clients reclaim their lives and make-meaning of events/lived experience by fostering the necessary skills to regulate their cognitive, emotional & somatic systems, solve problems, increase self-awareness & self-compassion, expand perspectives, decrease reactivity, respond mindfully, and tap into their innate resources for healing.

My desire to serve the community in which I grew up in, has always been important to me. I have worked at overdose prevention sites, harm reduction residential facilities, suicide crisis lines, and employment family assistance program (EFAP). It’s been a privilege to work with such a diverse range of clients. Having lived experience as a first responder, I am aware of how trauma can profoundly impact the mind and body. I utilize a blend of evidence-based practices including humanistic culturally responsive and socially just approaches (CRSJ). I specialize in addiction, relationships, trauma, anxiety and depression.

When we feel anxious, depressed, exhausted, isolated, lonely, lost or stuck for too long, it feels like we are caught in a web of pain. In order to ease the pain we may be drawn to addictive substances or behaviors to provide temporary relief. This might help in the short term but can have negative consequences if our addictive tendencies become destructive habits. At the root of our psychological pain are traumatic experiences from the past or negative attitudes toward our self. At our core we often have limiting or negative beliefs that keep us caught in a web of destructive habits. To heal, these beliefs need to be transformed.

Psych. and Associates. I offer empirically supported treatments to address a wide range of mental health and behavioural struggles. Kelly is a clinical counsellor with over 13 years of experience working in the social services field with children, youth and young adults within outreach, community, school, and clinical settings. Kelly has worked with a broad scope of clients, ranging in age from 5 to 24 years old, who present with various mental health concerns, from anxiety and depression to disordered eating, substance misuse, trauma, and identity exploration. She also provides parent and school consultations and supports young people identifying as LGBTQ+.
