EMDR Therapists in Victoria, BC
I approach therapy as a creative and collaborative process that involves the whole being of both the therapist and client. In order to lead fulfilling, joyful lives, humans need access to the intelligence available through their physical, psychological, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual selves. Trauma, shame, and fear can disrupt our ability to access and experience these aspects of self fully, and can leave us feeling dissatisfied with our lives. By working directly with clients' felt sense of their bodies, as well as their stories and their feelings, I support clients in deepening their relationship to all aspects of themselves.

Welcome! I know that just when we think things are going right, something happens to shift everything off balance. Even at the best of times, we are dealing with all kinds of stress (ex. money, family, work). This is why I got into counselling; because I truly believe that with 1:1 support you are provided a whole new avenue to explore those feelings, emotions, behaviours, and find practical tools to experience relief. While I counsel adults and couples, I also really enjoying counselling children and youth. I'm accepting new clients, so please reach out!

Accepting new clients. Are you experiencing anxiety, and/or depression? Life can be challenging, it can get messy and complicated leaving us feeling vulnerable, confused, and disconnected, our self-esteem suffers and our happiness and well-being become elusive. Life then just becomes one big struggle. With empathy and respect, I work from a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective. This means I recognize that you are the expert on your own experiences and worldview and understand that you just need support and guidance to figure it out.

I will do this with curiosity, empathy, compassion, and respect for your process. It is important to me that you feel like our collaborative counselling relationship is the right fit for you.

Hi I'm Cheryl. I have 25 yrs of experience of providing counselling. I only do private practice on Fridays btw 8-4:30 by phone, virtual or in-person. I encourage people to find their passion & restore their spirit while they are trying to overcome anxiety, depression, addictions, grief & loss or trauma. May-be you just lost your job, or feel burnout; or found out a devastating family secret, or lost a pet, or your partner had an affair. No one person is the same in how we deal with loss, nor are any of us perfect. Whatever it is, I am here for you to embrace that pain, to learn how to integrate it, & find your next hopeful horizon.

By addressing troubling thoughts and feelings, self-sabotaging behaviors, and traumas, life can be made more manageable, productive, and fulfilling. Feelings such as grief, shame, anxiety, sadness, and anger often signal that something needs to change. Listening to and working with these feelings—some that consume us and others that gently nudge us—can move us forward. Through this, we sometimes discover that our everyday dilemmas are part of larger patterns waiting to be resolved as a whole.

September 2024 - Welcoming NEW clients with in-person and virtual appointments at two convenient locations across beautiful Vancouver Island. During seasons of temporary distress, I've observed how sharing our journey fosters understanding, healing, and growth. Meaningful connection and exploration with trusted others enriches our insight and broadens our perspective. Depending on circumstances and timing, such opportunities may have been limited. Feeling uncomfortable with therapy is valid! Even so, lean in—the time is now, and I am here to support you.

Having an addicted person in your life can feel like a nightmare and tear your family apart. In order for addiction to have a chance of healing, we must first address the dynamics of the addict's relationships with their loved ones. Many loved ones unwittingly enable the addiction to continue, sometimes because they want to avoid confrontation and conflict. As the enabling continues, the addiction continues as well-and becomes progressively worse. It is important to understand that enabling an addict is never a loving act-and only leads to more severe consequences as time goes on.
