We all need help at some point in our lives. When we notice that anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts or unhelpful patterns of behaviour are interfering with who we are and how we want to live, it may be time to reach out for support.

Psychotherapy is the confidential process where you can get insight from an experienced registered Psychologist in understanding how life-stressors can interfere with your thinking patterns, feelings, beliefs, needs, behaviour and relationships. Prolonged exposure to stress, unhappiness, conflict, trauma, abuse or problematic relationships can lead to anxiety, depression, grief, anger or other behavioural problems. Brain research clearly indicated that early psychological intervention can prevent mental and physical illnesses. Clients now have the opportunity to be proactive and learn the skills on how to protect their mental health, restore their competence and happiness and develop a strong sense of well-being and resiliency.

I work with adults who want deep healing and growth, not just symptom management. My clients often find themselves repeating patterns of behaviour, feelings or relationships that they can't seem to shift. This might come with feelings of anxiety and/or depression, hopelessness, and physical pain. Maybe you have the sense that you are completely alone in this, or you feel that your past is dictating your future. I know how it feels to see no way out, and I am deeply passionate about walking alongside you in processing the emotions and trauma that are constraining your life, making it difficult to feel free.

Has your family been impacted by grief, loss, mental health challenges or life transitions? Have you or a family member witnessed or experienced interpersonal violence or trauma? As a registered clinical counselor and art therapist, I support children, youth, adults, and caregivers to bridge connections by exploring these issues with safety and acceptance. My approach to counselling is relational, client-centered and trauma informed, and I utilize evidence-based modalities from my training in art therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy and somatic attachment therapy.

I approach therapy as a creative and collaborative process that involves the whole being of both the therapist and client. In order to lead fulfilling, joyful lives, humans need access to the intelligence available through their physical, psychological, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual selves. Trauma, shame, and fear can disrupt our ability to access and experience these aspects of self fully, and can leave us feeling dissatisfied with our lives. By working directly with clients' felt sense of their bodies, as well as their stories and their feelings, I support clients in deepening their relationship to all aspects of themselves.

As a queer, transguy, and adoptive parent to a neurospicy child, I prioritize the importance of seeing people as complex, nuanced, and unique beings. I strive to keep my practice flexible, authentic, holistic, and avoid ‘one size fits all’ approaches that attempt to fit folx into little boxes. You deserve a space that will see you for who you are and your ways of being in the world.

My areas of passion are working with 2SLGBTQIA clients, alternative sexual/romantic relationship identities & dynamics (ex. ethically non-monogamy, polyamory, kink, swinging, BDSM, open relationships, sex work, etc.), sex & intimacy, consent & boundaries, religious trauma, chronic pain/illness, neurodiversity, and life transitions. I draw from both education and lived experience to provide deeper insight into supporting you from an open-minded, trauma-informed, sex-positive, and affirming framework. The journey of healing and growth can be messy, challenging, and heart-breaking while also beautifully majestic and worth every effort.

I am a neurodivergent counsellor who identifies with the LGBTQ2S+ community. My professional background includes working with youth and young adults in many capacities. Crisis intervention, military, and the public school system are a few settings in which I have been privileged to help others. I ground myself in a state of unconditional positive regard through the belief that every person does what they can, and what makes sense to them; if I were someone else, I would have made the same choices they did. I work to understand people within the context of their own lives and experiences.

Sometimes there is a gap between where we are and where we want to be or who we think we could be. Feeling this gap can be emotionally and physically draining. It’s difficult to be present in our lives when we feel consumed by the pain within us. It’s hard to know what to do next and even when the next step is clear, it may feel impossible to take it. My approach to therapy is gentle, supportive, and relational with an aim to reduce the need for coping mechanisms and to heal at the source. The training that I take reflects my personal belief that therapy is a place to come back to your integrated self.

I draw from a range approaches depending upon your needs and preferences. Among them are cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal neurobiological ideas, family systems therapy, and attachment theory. It is common for clients to arrive with issues identified only to discover that there are other deeper and more fundamental issues which underlie them. I work at a pace compatible with your ability to integrate change. I am gentle and encouraging, but firm and forthright. I provide a free initial consultation so you can determine whether you feel comfortable with me. My aim is for you to feel welcome, safe and comfortably challenged.

Over the years, I’ve learned that creative thinking can help us find paths and directions we never knew were possible. Through divergent thinking, we can get unstuck, opening doors we didn't know existed. Welcome! I'm Miream Rabba, a Professional Art Therapist. I was drawn to art therapy after more than 20 years in a successful career as a participatory designer and researcher in Canada and Australia. Through my work, I have witnessed the power of creativity to make decisions and shift perspectives.
