For anyone looking for support with navigating a challenge or who feels a longing to realize more of life's potential, I believe that counselling can be tremendously helpful. I also believe this is true for a variety of challenges and goals, whether it’s navigating a mental health challenge like anxiety, depression or ADHD, or just wanting to live at your highest level. Through counselling I believe we enter a space where we can honestly explore our various thoughts and feelings, generate insights and evolve our wisdom and perspective.

Counseling is, thankfully, no longer considered something reserved for individuals with severe mental health concerns. Today we are increasingly comfortable admitting many would benefit from dedicated space where our personal concerns, challenges, and goals can be carefully tended to. My clients learn quickly that therapy is about dialogue and consistent attention to their sadness, depression, anxiety, worries, and difficulties in different spheres of their lives (relationships, parenting, work, money, environment, to name a few). Clients often seek a deeper sense of purpose and engagement, therapy can help achieve this.

I work with individuals and couples who are struggling to communicate, and are wanting more connection, openness and intimacy in their relationships. I understand how our lives can be chaotic and how we can feel alone in that. My goal is to help you understand the root of your struggles and develop new strategies to help you find your way out of negative behaviors and thought patterns.

I help couples get closer using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). It's a way to make bonds stronger. Imagine a story of a badger and a turtle. The badger loves excitement, while the turtle prefers things to be steady. They usually get along well. But when tough times hit, their differences stand out. The badger feels lonely and gets angry, while the turtle feels unheard and wants to hide. This makes them drift apart even more. Want to make things better? Book an appointment at kelvinchung.ca, and let's work on this together.

Whatever reason brings you to consider counselling, congratulations on taking the first step! While we won’t be able to eliminate all problems in our work together, we can get you to a more confident, more skillful place while you confront them and find your footing. I work particularly well with people who are struggling with their emotions and feel like they need a new, fresh approach to therapy. I also work well with people who feel stuck in feelings, patterns, and/or thinking that they don't feel are serving them, but are not sure how to foster change in their life. Together, we'll work to find the right path forward for you.

“Stress doesn’t cause burnout. Capitalism and white supremacy does” - Jenn Mullan. Are you a member of a marginalized community - BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people with mental health issues? Have you been struggling with people pleasing, imposter syndrome, caregiver fatigue, and/or coming to terms with a mental health diagnosis? It is exhausting to exist in a world that was not built for us. You matter, and you deserve to be heard in a safe space that does not blame you for not doing or being enough. With an anti-oppressive and decolonial approach, I support people of marginalized identities to process their grief and honour their rage.

I offer counselling to self-identifying women, men, and folks who are gender non-conforming. I seek to provide a space of authenticity, safety and groundedness where clients feel safe to explore their inner experiences. I believe each person has the capability to heal and warrants having someone with them on the journey through the exploration and discovery of their authentic self.

We are all shaped by the unique experiences we have had in our lives. These experiences come together to tell our stories, however, sometimes our stories become difficult to bear. At times it may feel like you can't quite get your footing, or the stress you are experiencing is starting to impact your personal or professional life. The wonderful part of stories is that they are meant to be told. Together, we will navigate the complexities of life, embracing empowerment, and healing, and build on the resiliency you already have.

Health and well-being have been a central tenet of my life for over a decade now. My history as a health care professional has informed my counselling in that I believe any challenge we encounter will see impacts in our emotions, our thoughts, and our physical body. By tuning into all three, we can turn signs of distress into sources of insight, and as resources for self-soothing and emotional management. To that end, EMDR is my preferred approach for assisting clients in facing and moving through traumas big and small, integrated with elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, skill-building, and role-play techniques.
